CRACKLE OPENS "ROB RIGGLE'S JET SKI ACADEMY," WITH SONAR ENTERTAINMENT AND ABOMINABLE PICTURES
Actor and Comedian Returns to Streaming Network to Star, Write and Executive Produce New Scripted Comedy Series
Pasadena, CA, January 14, 2018 - Crackle, Sony Pictures Television Networks' free, ad-supported streaming network, announced today "Rob Riggle's Jet Ski Academy," a new original comedy series in development. The eight-episode, 22-minute series follows a constantly misbehaving and only slightly fictionalized Rob Riggle, where he makes his most ill-conceived investment to date - a jet ski academy. Under public scrutiny, Riggle finds himself defending the venture and explaining the insane accidents and adventures that occur at camp all summer long. Riggle will also serve as a series writer and executive producer, in addition to starring.
"Crackle is the perfect home for my Jet Ski Academy," said Riggle. "We have big plans for this brilliant new investment and look forward to partnering with the team to create a lot of laughs, and hopefully they will know how to right a capsized jet ski."
Eric Berger, GM, Crackle and CDO, Sony Pictures Television Networks, added: "Rob has been a staple in comedic films and television for years and we are thrilled to have him return to our network for this new venture, bringing his ridiculous, fun and daring humor to our viewers who crave comedy."
This is Riggle's second project with Crackle - he can be seen in the 2015 original movie Dead Rising: Watchtower, where he plays Frank West, Capcom's favorite zombie-killing photojournalist. The feature, which is based on the widely popular video game franchise, has sold several million copies to date and is currently streaming on the network.
Riggle will next be seen in Open Road Films', Midnight Sun, opening March 23rd with Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger; 12 Strong, which opens on January 19th; and Universal's comedy, Night School with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, which is set to release September 28th.
Most recently, Riggle co-starred alongside Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Eugenio Derbez, Rob Lowe and Michael Cera in How to Be a Latin Lover. He is known for his memorable characters in comedy hits like The Hangover, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and Going the Distance, as well as spots on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." He has remained a mainstay in television, currently a host on "Fox NFL Sunday" and can also be seen on Adult Swim's "NTSF:SD:SUV::." Other television credits include "30 Rock," "The Office," "Arrested Development," "Modern Family," "The League" and "New Girl," and additional movie credits include 22 Jump Street, 21 Jump Street, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, Dumb & Dumber to and Let's Be Cops.
In addition to Riggle, Jonathan Stern, Keith Quinn, Bennett Webber and Chris Pizzi will serve as executive producers. "Rob Riggle's Jet Ski Academy" is produced by Sonar Entertainment and Abominable Pictures.
