BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher and Nathan Mitchell will join Erin Moriarty as the principal leads on the drama series, about a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. Starr will play Homelander, "leader of the main superhero team, The Seven"; with McElligott as Queen Maeve, "member of The Seven"; Crawford as The Deep, "an aquatic hero"; Usher as "another The Seven member, A-Train, a superhero faster than a speeding train"; and Mitchell as Black Noir, "a masked superhero with fighting and Set martial arts skills." GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Titular actress Ellen Pompeo has signed a new two-year deal with ABC Studios. The pact reportedly will pay Pompeo north of $550,000 per episode, making her the highest paid actress in television. Additionally, she'll receive a producer credit on the series and a co-executive producer credit on the upcoming spin-off. (Deadline.com)
GUESS WHO DIED (NBC) - Hector Elizondo and Holland Taylor have been tapped to star in the single-camera comedy, described as a humorous and inspiring look at the shared joys and challenges we all experience at any stage of life. He'll play Murray, "a retired music executive who is positive and upbeat with sparkling eyes and a keen, sharp and wonderful sense of humor. After the death of his beloved wife, he realizes he's fallen in love with his sister-in-law, Patricia, a former American Airlines flight attendant, who can be a little too proper at times, but she's sharp as a tack with a great sense of humor." The project has a pilot production commitment. (Deadline.com)
I LOVE DICK/JEAN-CLAUDE VAN JOHNSON/ONE MISSISSIPPI (Amazon) - The streaming service has opted to cancel all three comedies as "part of a move towards bigger, wider-audience series." (Deadline.com)
I'M DYING UP HERE (Showtime) - Nicole Ari Parker and Stefania LaVie Owen will both recur on the show's sophomore run. The former will play Gloria Whitfield, "a recently divorced, successful and well-respected producer of Soul Train who becomes romantically entangled with one of the comics." Owen then is set as Amanda Robbins, "Goldie's estranged, troubled daughter. After running away from home when she was 17, Amanda reappears in Goldie's life and exposes her mother's Achilles heel at the most inopportune time." (Deadline.com)
QUANTICO (ABC) - Vandit Bhatt is the latest to recur on the revamped third season as Jagdeep "Deep" Patel, "a member of the new elite black ops team." (Deadline.com)
RIVERDALE (The CW) - Andy Cohen will cameo on the series as himself, "an old friend of the Lodges who has come to Riverdale to offer Hermione (Marisol Nichols) a helping hand." (EW.com)
SWEETBITTER (Starz) - Jimmie Saito will recur on the upcoming half-hour drama as Scott, "the restaurant's handsome, strong-minded sous chef." (Deadline.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Lena Waithe will drop by the hit drama as "an animal shelter worker who advises Kate (Chrissy Metz)." (EW.com)
TITANS (DC) - Seamus Dever will recur on the comic-book-turned-drama series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
YOU THINK IT, I'LL SAY IT (Apple, New!) - Kristen Wiig is set to star in a 10-episode comedy series for the company, inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld's upcoming short-story collection. Colleen McGuinness is behind the half-hour with Wiig and Hello Sunshine's Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter likewise executive producing. Sittenfeld himself will be a consulting producer. No plot specifics however were given. (THR.com)
