CLAWS (TNT) - Sheryl Lee Ralph will recur on the upcoming season as Matilde Ruval, "the Haitian mother of Desna's (Niecy Nash) love interest Gregory Ruval (Jimmy Jean-Louis), a benevolent and caring mother to her son, with more going on than meets the eye." (Deadline.com)
GREATEST AMERICAN HERO, THE (ABC) - Hannah Simone ("New Girl") has scored the title role in the single-camera comedy pilot, about Meera Patel, a 30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning, much to the chagrin of her traditional Indian-American family. An inexplicable event occurs that will change the course of Meera's life forever: she is entrusted with a super suit to protect the planet. Meera may have finally found purpose, but the world has never been in more unreliable hands. (Deadline.com)
HISTORY OF THEM (CBS) - Comedian Chris Powell has booked a role on the comedy pilot as Isaac, "a smart, funny, former athlete and millionaire with a sweet apartment in downtown Portland where he lives with his two best friends, Adam (Brett Dier) and Vikram (Amit Shah)." (Deadline.com)
ORVILLE, THE (FOX) - Jessica Szohr has been tapped as a new regular on the series' second season. (@TheOrville)
PREACHER (AMC) - Betty Buckley and Colin Cunningham have both joined the cast while Jeremy Childs and Liz McGeever are slated to recur on the new season. Buckley will play Gran'ma, "a spiritist with true powers, who can cast spells and even bring back the dead (for a price)"; with Cunningham as TC, "a man born of the bayou and the loyal caretaker and soldier for Gran'ma"; Childs as Jody, "the enforcer for Gran'ma and the only man Jesse's never beaten in a fight"; and McGeever as Christina, who "has a face that lures customers in for her family business." (Deadline.com)
RE-ESTABLISHED (Comedy Central, New!) - Roy Wood, Jr. ("The Daily Show with Trevor Noah") is attached to star in a new comedy at the cable channel about "a parole officer willing to bend the rules to help the parolees on his watch, much to the chagrin of his partner and everyone else in his life." Ark Angel's Trevor Noah, 5 Mutts' Aaron McGruder and Mainstay Entertainment's Norman Aladjem and Derek Van Pelt will also executive produce the half-hour alongside South Park and Princeton Productions' Wood, Jr., who conceived the idea. (Deadline.com)
ROOKIE, THE (ABC) - Richard T. Jones ("Wisdom of the Crowd") is the latest to board the Nathan Fillion-led drama as Sergeant Wade Grey, "the station's Watch Commander, who becomes a nemesis to Fillion's forty-year-old rookie." Said role is presumably in second position to the CBS drama, which is not expected to return. (Deadline.com)
SALVATION (CBS) - Melia Kreiling and Ashley Thomas are both bound for the show's sophomore run as Alycia Stavros, "a brilliant scientist with a mysterious past who may hold the key to the planet's future"; and Alonzo Carver, "a DC detective who refuses to let the impending threat of Armageddon interfere with his hunt for justice," respectively. (Deadline.com)
SHOOTER (USA) - Felisha Terrell has scored a recurring role on the new season as Carlita, "a seasoned military operative who was trained at the same Atlas facility as several of Bob Lee's adversaries. When the unexpected death of her commander sets her termination in motion, she's forced to stray from her highly disciplined code." (Deadline.com)
