She is looking for a role with a "hero line," and finally might have found it when she and her best friend stumble upon the crashed spaceship." (Deadline.com)
GET CHRISTIE LOVE (ABC) - Julia Kelly has snagged a role on the Kylie Bunbury-led drama pilot as Val, "the bookish & nerdy tech op for Christie's (Bunbury) counter-intelligence field unit. GOD FRIENDED ME (CBS) - Joe Morton ("Scandal") has been cast in the drama pilot, about Miles Finer (Brandon Micheal Hall), an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he is "friended" by God on Facebook, unwittingly becoming an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. Although he doesn't agree with his son's strong rejection of his faith, he wants him back in his life." (Deadline.com)
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (CBS) - Walton Goggins has signed on for the lead role in the Eye's small screen take on James Ellroy's noir classic novel-turned-feature. Additionally, Anna Fricke is set to serve as co-showrunner alongside creator Jordan Harper. (Deadline.com)
MAGNUM, P.I. (CBS) - Jay Hernandez has scored the title role on the drama pilot, about Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. MRS. OTIS REGRETS (FOX) - Katie Holmes has scored the title role on the drama pilot, in which FBI Special Agent Clementine Otis is in the midst of investigating a domestic terrorism threat when a personal indiscretion - an affair with a prominent general - shatters her life and threatens her career at the FBI. Now labeled "the mistress," Clementine Otis - wife, mother, patriot - begins to rebuild her personal life and professional reputation. Holmes will also receive an executive producer credit. (Deadline.com)
PLAYING DEAD (The CW) - Actor Tyler Ritter and director Rachel Goldenberg are both bound for the drama pilot, a dysfunctional family dramedy about a mortician and his son whose lives are turned upside down when the woman who abandoned them 15 years ago returns and asks them to fake her death. He'll play Joe Rice, "the single dad who is director of the Rice Funeral Home. He has a wry sense of humor even though his life didn't turn out as planned." (Deadline.com)
SO CLOSE (NBC) - Sabrina Carpenter ("Girl Meets World") has snagged a role on the multi-camera comedy pilot as Jessica: "She's sweet and adorable and loves her roommates Kyle and Sebastian and is always shocking people with the crazy/confusing things that come out of her mouth." (Deadline.com)
STATIES (ABC) - Annie Ilonzeh and David Zayas are both bound for the drama pilot, about Eliza Cortez, a hard-charging NYPD detective who's banished to the boonies after a high-profile mistake and is paired with a new partner, Oregon State Trooper Sam King (Andy Karl). She'll play the former role: "The daughter of a criminal, Eliza has got a chip on her shoulder and a lot to prove. Initially with the NYPD in Brooklyn, she's bounced off the force after a one-woman assault on a meth lab leaves a city block in rubble. After getting a job with the Oregon State Police Force - the only squad that would hire her - Eliza is obliged to adjust to an infinitely more easygoing and eccentric team of co-workers." Zayas then will play Sgt. Machado, "the head of Eliza's new Oregon State Police unit." (Deadline.com)
TITANS (DC) - April Bowlby has been cast as Rita Farr, better known as Elasti-Girl, on the upcoming series: "An actress on the rise, Rita Farr was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure - which, in the comics, allows her to expand or shrink her body at will. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among The Doom Patrol." (EW.com)
