Said casting is in first position to "The Mayor," which is not expected to return. (THR.com)
MURDER (CBS) - Michael Chiklis ("Gotham") is set to star opposite Teyonah Parris in the drama pilot, which takes the audience inside the emotional journey of an investigation, allowing them to discern the truth and judge the suspects' guilt or innocence for themselves. He'll play Mason "Mace" Garrity, "a veteran NYPD detective whose deep empathy and sharp instincts have been the foundation of an exemplary career. But now, his usual style is disrupted by his new partner, outspoken rookie Detective Ayana Lake (Parris), who will challenge all his assumptions." (Deadline.com)
PURGE, THE (USA/Syfy) - Gabriel Chavarria and Jessica Garza are set to topline the small screen take on the film franchise. He will play Miguel, "a U.S. Marine with a hard edge and a noble mission. After receiving a cryptic letter from his little sister, Penelope (Garzia), he returns to town on Purge Night - prepared to face the senseless violence in the streets alone in order to protect what he loves most - his family." Garzia's Penelope "belongs to a Purge-worshipping cult. Having pledged herself to be sacrificed at the behest of their charismatic leader, Penelope's faith is tested when she is exposed to the ghastly realities of the Purge." (Deadline.com)
SALVAGE (ABC) - Charity Wakefield has scored the female lead in the drama pilot, about ex-cop Jimmy Hill who just wants to be left alone after moving back home in rural Florida; but when a local murder is linked to the sunken treasure of a lost Spanish galleon, he's drawn into the investigation by an idealistic deputy and pitted against the powerful town patriarch, outside criminal agents, and his own father. STATIES (ABC) - Jennifer Aspen is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about Eliza Cortez (Annie Ilonzeh), a hard-charging NYPD detective who's banished to the boonies after a high-profile mistake and is paired with a new partner, Oregon State Trooper Sam King (Andy Karl). She's set as Scottie Dias, "the administrative support for the State Police unit. A fast talker and a huge gossip, she has a mischievous smile and knows more than she lets on. She regularly interacts with Eliza and Sam and appears to be one of those veteran bureaucrats with an infinite storehouse of local trivia." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TIM DOYLE PROJECT (ABC) - Sam Straley has scored a role on the single-camera comedy pilot, about an Irish-Catholic family with a working class dad (Michael Cudlitz), traditional mom (Mary McCormack) and eight sons as they struggle to cope in the turbulent 1970's.
