ACT, THE (Hulu) - Chloë Sevigny and AnnaSophia Robb are the latest additions to the anthology series, which also stars Patricia Arquette and Joey King. Sevigny will play Mel, "a natural leader of all the women in her small neighborhood. She's had a hard life, and she sympathizes with the troubles Dee Dee's been through. But when she catches a glimpse of another side of Dee Dee, she doesn't know what to think." Robb then portrays Lacey, "Mel's daughter. Like her mom, she's a popular girl, well-liked by everyone she meets. Unlike her mom, she's a bit of an idealist. She finds herself instantly taken with Gypsy and Dee Dee, and soon turns up at their house wanting to help out." (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN GODS (Starz) - Incoming co-showrunner Jesse Alexander is "no longer working" on the show's second season, the latest behind-the-scenes change. He and Neil Gaiman were previously tapped to succeed original showrunners Michael Green and Bryan Fuller back in February. (THR.com)
AMERICANS, THE (FX) - Writer/producer Tracey Scott Wilson has signed an overall production deal with FX Productions where she'll develop new series projects. (Deadline.com)
BUSINESS AS USUAL (NBC, New!) - Hayes Davenport has booked a single-camera project at the Peacock billed as "a comedy about everyday employees at a company in crisis, trying to keep their jobs and maintain their relationships as their workplace goes insane." Lord Miller Productions' Phil Lord and Chris Miller will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. A penalty attached is attached to NBC's script commitment. (Variety.com)
CREW, THE (CBS, New!) - Gracie Glassmeyer has sold a new multi-camera comedy to the Eye about "when the family patriarch dies, his son has to step up and take the wheel as the driver of the father's racing team." Austen Earl is attached as an executive producer for CBS Television Studios with Glassmeyer serving as a co-executive producer. (Variety.com)
CURSED (Netflix) - Katherine Langford ("13 Reasons Why") is set to topline Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler's upcoming original series, a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. Additionally, Zetna Fuentes has been tapped to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the 10-episode series. Silenn Thomas co-executive produces. (Deadline.com)
DEAD TO ME (Netflix) - James Marsden and Ed Asner have both been cast in the Linda Cardellini/Christina Applegate-led comedy. Marsden will play "a love interest to Judy (Cardellini) who seems confident and logical, but beyond that facade is a vulnerable man with a complicated past who is drawn to Judy's big heart and free spirit." Asner then is set as "a resident at the assisted living facility where Judy works, Abe is quick-witted and sharper than most. He and Judy (Cardellini) share a sweet bond and often lean on each other to get through life's twists and turns." (Deadline.com)
GODFATHER OF HARLEM (Epix) - Ilfenesh Hadera is set to star opposite Forest Whitaker in the period drama as Mayme Johnson, "wife of Bumpy (Whitaker) and nobody's fool. She knows the take of every numbers spot from 110th to 168th, but still makes a Sunday meal that draws a full house of friends and family every weekend. A testament to the power of the African-American mother as insulator, protector and champion. She's also a dynamo who won the most powerful black man in Harlem." (Deadline.com)
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA (Disney Channel) - The cable network has renewed the small screen take on the Sony Pictures Animation franchise for a second season. (Deadline.com)
INN CROWD, THE (NBC, New!) - David Holden ("Young & Hungry") has set up a multi-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a gay couple who divide a small town when they open a very successful inn." Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak of That's Wonderful Productions also executive produce the Warner Bros. Television-based project, which is inspired by Tony Horwitz's 1999 New Yorker article. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TESSA COATES PROJECT (ABC, New!) - British comedian Tessa Coates is set to create, star in and executive produce a comedy series at the Alphabet. No plot details were given about the ABC Studios-based project, which has a put pilot commitment. Greg Daniels and 3 Arts Entertainment's Howard Klein will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
