CHAMPIONS (NBC) - Producer Universal Television has reportedly "been unable to find a new home" for the short-lived NBC series. (TVLine.com)
CHARMED (The CW) - Craig Parker is bound for the reboot series as Alastair Caine, "the CEO of Morningstar Biotech and a benefactor of the Hilltowne University laboratory, which happens to be where Macy (Madeleine Mantock) works. A charismatic businessman, Alastair will wreak a bit of havoc in the girls' magical and personal lives." (TVLine.com)
CONNECT (FOX, New!) - Rashad Raisani has snagged a put pilot commitment for a new high concept drama based on French format about "a brash hero with a gift that he will use to assist his cop brother with whom he has a troubled relationship." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the hour with Wonderland Sound and Vision's McG (who is also attached to direct); Teakwood Lane's Howard Gordon; and Intrigue Entertainment's Lucas Carter and Joe Wiggins likewise executive producing. DESIGNING WOMEN (ABC, New!) - Linda Bloodworth Thomason's new incarnation of the former CBS staple has found a home at ABC, where it has landed a script commitment. The multi-camera project is billed as a sequel series and will "follow the next generation of Sugarbakers with a crop of new, young, female designers at an Atlanta interior design firm." Harry Thomason will also executive produce the Sony Pictures Television-based project, which hopes to feature the original cast members on a recurring basis. (THR.com)
HOOPS (NBC, New!) - Jennifer Cecil has sold a basketball-themed drama to the Peacock in which "after years on the road as both a star player and coach in the WNBA, Stevie Decker jumps at the chance to return to her alma mater to become the first female head coach of a men's college basketball team. But coming home isn't easy as her career took a toll on her family, and the school she loves is embroiled in a sex scandal involving her mentor, a legendary former coach." SpringHill Entertainment's LeBron James and Maverick Carter; and Brownstone Productions' Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman are also on board to executive produce the Warner Bros. Television-based project, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
KNIGHTFALL (History) - Clementine Nicholson will recur on the show's sophomore run as Margaret, Princess of Burgundy, "the devoted wife of Prince Louis of France (Tom Forbes). Upon joining Louis in Paris and eager to produce an heir to the French throne, Margaret will discover what life is really like as a member of the royal family and the future Queen of France." LEAN ON ME (The CW, New!) - Wendy Calhoun is spearheading a small screen take on John G. Avildsen's 1989 film, about "when a spirited young black teacher Amarie Baldwin scores the principal job at an Akron, Ohio, public high school, she must dig deep to transform a failing campus into an urban oasis." SpringHill Entertainment's LeBron James and Maverick Carter; and Get Lifted Film Company's John Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius will also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television. MURPHY BROWN (CBS) - Adan Rocha has joined the cast of the revival series as Miguel, "a DREAMer who came to the United States from Mexico when he was just a year old." (TVLine.com)
PRODIGAL SON (FOX, New!) - Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver have likewise landed a put pilot commitment for a new drama about Malcolm Bright, "the best criminal psychologist around [who] uses his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses." Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of the Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
PROVEN INNOCENT (FOX) - Elaine Hendrix is bound for the midseason drama in the recurring role of Susan Andrews, "a shameless self-promoting TV pundit who has the pull to sway public opinion with her proclamations of guilt or innocence." (Deadline.com)
SNOWPIERCER (TNT) - Shaun Toub is the latest set to recur on the film-turned-TV series as Terence: "Charming, conniving, and ultimately dangerous, Terence rules the Black Market with an enigmatic power. A janitor turned gangster, he inspires fierce loyalty in his army of minions." (Deadline.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Xander Berkeley has been cast as Peter Lockwood, father to Sam Witwer's Ben Lockwood (aka Agent Liberty), "a middle-class factory owner struggling to make ends meet in a world that's rapidly changing due to the rise of aliens from outer space living amongst us." (TVInsider.com)
