AJ AND THE QUEEN (Netflix) - Matthew Wilkas has booked a recurring role on the RuPaul Charles-led series as Officer Patrick Kennedy, "a macho, gay police officer who is charming, easy going, and comfortable in his own skin. Officer Patrick works for the New York Police Department alongside Officer Rhonda Whyatt (Misty Monroe)." (Deadline.com)
FIRST, THE (Hulu) - The streaming service has opted not to order a second season of the Sean Penn-led drama. (Deadline.com)
LAST MAN STANDING (FOX) - Krista Marie Yu - who recurs as Jen, a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong that Mike (Tim Allen) and Vanessa Baxter (Nancy Travis) are hosting in their Colorado home - has been promoted to series regular on the comedy. (Deadline.com)
LIKE MAGIC (NBC) - Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu's comedy - about "an optimistic young woman pursuing her dream to be a headlining magician in the eccentric and ego-driven world of the Magic Palace" - has received a pilot green light from the Peacock. Universal Television-based CannyLads Productions is behind the single-camera half-hour. (Deadline.com)
SAVING KENAN (A.K.A. SAVING LARRY) (NBC) - Kenan Thompson's single-camera comedy - about "a newly widowed dad (Thompson) determined to be everything for his kids while begrudgingly letting his persistent father-in-law become more involved in their lives" - is the latest to score a pilot order from the Peacock. Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer's Universal Television-based Broadway Video is behind the project. (Deadline.com)
TERROR, THE (AMC) - Christopher Naoki Lee is the latest addition to the anthology's second season as Ken Uehara, "an outspoken young Japanese-American man from San Francisco whose affluent family is imprisoned at the same internment camp as several of the other characters." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NYPD BLUE SPIN-OFF PROJECT (ABC) - Ashley Thomas and Rick Gomez have both been cast in the follow-up series, which follows Andy Sipowicz's son, Theo (Fabien Frankel), as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father's murder. They'll play Detectives Chris Gamble and Craig Pettibone, respectively. The latter is further detailed as "studying law at night with the goal of passing the bar one day. Although he hasn't passed it yet, he's aggressive enough to be already drumming up clients by passing out his business card." (Deadline.com)
