THE CHERNOBYL PODCAST, Five-Episode Companion Piece to the HBO Miniseries, Debuts May 6
Craig Mazin (creator, writer and executive producer of the miniseries "Chernobyl") and NPR's Peter Sagal (host of "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!") have recorded a five-episode podcast, THE CHERNOBYL PODCAST, as a companion piece to the five-part HBO miniseries. In each episode of the podcast, Mazin and Sagal take an in-depth look at adapting the true stories that shaped the scenes, characters and themes depicted in the miniseries, which debuts Monday, May 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), followed by other episodes consecutive Mondays at the same time. A new episode of THE CHERNOBYL PODCAST will be available each week on HBO GO, HBO NOW, Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, SoundCloud and other podcast apps immediately after an episode of the miniseries debuts on HBO.
The five-part miniseries "Chernobyl," starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson, dramatizes the 1986 nuclear accident, one of the worst human-made catastrophes in history, and tells the story of the brave men and women who made incredible sacrifices to save Europe from unimaginable disaster, all the while battling a culture of disinformation.
"Chernobyl" was written, created and executive produced by Craig Mazin (who also co-hosts "Scriptnotes," the long-running podcast about screenwriting) and directed by Johan Renck; produced by Sister Pictures, The Mighty Mint and Word Games as an HBO/Sky co-production; Carolyn Strauss and Jane Featherstone executive produce; Johan Renck and Chris Fry co-executive produce; Sanne Wohlenberg produces.
