CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Executive producer Michael Gilvary is the latest to sign an overall deal with producer Universal Television. The pact covers his duties on the veteran drama as well as presumably any future development. (Deadline.com)
ENGLISH GAME, THE (Netflix) - Julian Fellowes's six-part drama, about the invention of football and how those involved in its creation reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world's most popular sport, has cast its principal roles: Edward Holcroft, Kevin Guthrie, Charlotte Hope, Craig Parkinson, James Harkness, Niamh Walsh, Gerard Kearns, Joncie Elmore, Sam Keeley, Daniel Ings, Kate Dickie, Henry Lloyd Hughes, Kate Phillips, Ben Batt, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Harry Michell and Anthony Andrews. Directing the project are Birgitte Stærmose and Tim Fywell with Fellowes, Rhonda Smith, Rory Aitken, Eleanor Moran and Ben Pugh executive producing and Ben Vanstone as a co-executive producer. HOW THE OTHER HALF HAMPTONS (Freeform) - Laurie Arent has been tapped to pen and executive produce the potential drama, based on Jasmin Rosemberg's book of the same name. Brian Buckner was behind a previous incarnation set up at FOX in 2010. Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor and Milojo Productions' Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and Albert Bianchini are also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
OUTER BANKS (Netflix, New!) - Chase Stokes (John B), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ) and Charles Esten (Ward Cameron) are set to star in a new 10-episode series for the streaming service about a tight-knit group (the "Pogues") who find a treasure map that unearths a long buried secret while trying to find their friend's missing father. Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke are all behind the North Carolina-based drama, which also features Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Austin North (Topper) and Drew Starkey (Rafe). QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (USA) - Chris Greene and Sofia Lama will both recur on the show's fourth season as Bobby Leroux, "a trusted business associate and friend of Marcel Dumas"; and Emilia, "Boaz Jimenez's (Joseph T. STUMPTOWN (ABC) - Executive producer Jason Richman has signed a new multi-year overall deal with the pilot's producer ABC Studios. Richman is also behind the proposed John Grisham shared universe series at Hulu and ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LIOR SUCHARD PROJECT (Quibi, New!) - Israeli mentalist Lior Suchard is set to be the focus of a new eight-part series on the short-form video platform. In the project, "Suchard will meet and stun a range of celebrity guests." Fulwell 73's James Corden and Ben Winston are presumably the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UTOPIA (Amazon) - Jessica Rothe is the latest set to recur on the upcoming John Cusack-led drama as Samantha: "Extremely idealistic, sharp-witted and a natural-born leader, Samantha earnestly believes in changing the world through action and scoffs at cheap rhetoric about progress. She could school any comic book nerd about the graphic novel Utopia and is embarking on a mission to uncover its secrets." (Deadline.com)
