BLACK MAMBAS (BET, New!) - Writer Amani Walker and director Salli Richardson-Whitfield are set to team for a potential drama at the network about "the journey of four powerful women who are bikers and grow tired of the violent crimes and injustice in their hometown of New Orleans and decide to take justice into their own hands." Dallas Jackson, Erwin More and Brian Medavoy are also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
HEART OF A LION (Showtime, New!) - John Wells is looking to bring a small screen take on Dome Karukoski's feature "Leijonasydän" to the pay channel. The project follows "a white nationalist [who] falls in love with a woman who has a black son and has to confront his own past, his family and beliefs in a rapidly changing America in the age of Trump." John Wells Productions and Warner Horizon Television will presumably produce. (Deadline.com)
LOVE, SIMON (Disney+) - Jason Ensler has signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, part of Disney Television Studios. Under the pact, he'll join the upcoming Disney+ series as the directing executive producer as well as develop his own projects. (Deadline.com)
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY (HBO) - Jamie Neumann, Erica Tazel and Mac Brandt are the latest to score roles on the upcoming drama. Neumann will play Hillary, "an outdoorsy woman who migrates to the big city - where her dreams turn into nightmares"; with Tazel as Dora Freeman, "spitfire personality and life of every party, who enjoys nights on the town with her beloved, boozy husband Montrose"; and Brandt as Lancaster, "a former thug who grew up on the streets of Chicago and is more brawn than brain, he's strong armed his way to the head of Chicago PD's organized crime unit, where his corruption has been allowed to thrive." MY EX-LIFE (Apple TV+, New!) - Mickey Rapkin is in talks for a potential series at the streaming service inspired by Stephen McCauley's novel of the same name. The project, from John Wells Productions and Warner Horizon Television, is billed as "a romantic drama about acceptance, self-medication and how we define home. This is a show about an unconventional family whose members are experiencing a coming-of-age-at-every- age." (Deadline.com)
RED BIRD LANE (WarnerMedia, New!) - Sara Gran is on track for a pilot order at the upcoming streaming service for a new drama billed as a "morality and psychological horror series about eight strangers who arrive at an isolated house-all for different reasons-and quickly realize that something sinister and strange awaits them." John Wells Productions and Warner Horizon Television are producing. (Deadline.com)
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - John Wells has signed a massive new five-year, nine-figure overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, extending his career-long run at the studio. The pact covers his duties on his existing series, which also include TNT's "Animal Kingdom," as well as any future projects. (Deadline.com)
TAKEN (NBC) - Executive producer Alex Cary has closed a three-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, ending his run at Universal Television. The pact calls for him to develop new series projects for the studio. (Deadline.com)
