9-1-1: LONE STAR (FOX) - Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael Silva and Julian Works will round out the cast of the upcoming spin-off. Karam is set as Marjan Marwani, "an adrenaline junkie and badass firefighter"; with Smith as Paul Strickland, "a transgender male firefighter who has a gift for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes"; Silva as Austin Police Officer Carlos Reyes; and Works as rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez. MOURNING SONGS (ABC, New!) - Dave Finkel and Brett Baer have scored a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a single-camera comedy which "centers on a 35-year-old composer who, after the tragic death of his father, is forced to move back home to live with his mom, help his family heal and grow up, possibly for the very first time." The project, which is based on the life of songwriter Ryan Langer with whom they'll co-write the script, comes from the ABC Studios-based Maniac Productions with the company's Michael Seitzman and Christina Davis also executive producing. STUMPTOWN (ABC) - Zosia Mamet, Jay Duplass and Zulay Henao will all guest on the show's second installment, about Elias (Duplass), "a lovelorn widower who becomes taken with a woman named Katrina (Mamet) and hires Dex (Cobie Smulders) to track her down." Henao then is recurring as Denise, "the wife of a now-deceased informant Hoffman (Michael Ealy) used to work with who is now involved in a complicated situation with him." (Variety.com)
TRIANGLE (ABC) - The Alphabet has passed on the long-in-the-works drama pilot. "A late international shoot in New Zealand and extensive post-production" delayed said decision until after the May upfronts. (Deadline.com)
TROLL (Amazon, New!) - Writer Lee Sung Jin and director Rhys Thomas have set up a new comedy series at the streaming service about "an eternal optimist, who refuses to give up on his dreams of being a world-renowned documentary filmmaker, despite living off gig economy apps and never actually making a documentary. After being bullied online, he finally sets out to make a film exposing his troll, only to stumble upon what might be a geopolitical conspiracy." Joe Lewis, a former Amazon Studios executive, will also executive produce via his Amplify Pictures banner. (Deadline.com, 9/22)
WALKER, TEXAS RANGER (New!) - Jared Padalecki is set to star and executive produce a potential reboot of the former Chuck Norris-led CBS staple. Anna Fricke is behind the hour with Rideback's Dan Lin and Lindsey Libertore and Industry Entertainment's Dan Spilo also executive producing for CBS Television Studios. The CW, home to Padalecki's long-running series "Supernatural," is reportedly the leading contender to land the project. Padalecki would play Cordell Walker, "a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state's most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case - only to discover that there's even more work to be done at home." WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS GO ON (Hulu) - Queen Latifah is set to star in the upcoming drama in which after the murder of a beautiful young girl rocks a suburban community, the victim's sister and her high school peers must struggle to find a sense of normalcy while coming of age in the midst of the murder investigation. She'll play Grasso, a detective investigating the case. Also cast in the project are Chosen Jacobs as Charlie, Sophie Thatcher as Becky, Sam Strike as Casper, Ben Ahlers as Brad and Julia Sarah Stone as Berlice with Mark Duplass as Mr. Carpenter, Tony Hale as Mr. Bouque, Kristine Froseth as Chrissy and Nnamdi Asomugha as Adult Charlie also recurring.
