AMERICAN CRIME STORY (FX) - Oscar-nominee Clive Owen has signed on to play Bill Clinton in the third season of the franchise. He'll join the previously cast Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. (Deadline.com)
BRAND NEW CHERRY FLAVOR (Netflix, New!) - Rosa Salazar is set to star in an eight-episode horror-thriller revenge series at the streaming service about Lisa Nova (Salazar), "an aspiring film director in the sun-drenched but seamy world of 1990 Los Angeles who embarks on a mind-altering journey - from the streets of Beverly Hills to the forests of Brazil - of supernatural revenge." Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion are behind the project, which is based on the cult horror novel by Todd Grimson. Also starring Catherine Keener, Eric Lange, Jeff Ward and Manny Jacinto. Universal Content Productions and Antosca's Eat the Cat banner are producing while Arkasha Stevenson will helm the debut episode. (Deadline.com)
FIGHTING WORDS (CBS, New!) - Samantha Corbin-Miller has landed a potential drama at the Eye about "a brilliant but socially awkward female forensic linguistics professor who teams with a charming, roguish male Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent and uses her unique, cutting-edge forensic skills as a human linguistic polygraph to consult on major cases where language and words play a vital component, from social media to the interrogation room." Juniper Place Productions' Jeffrey Kramer will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios with Jenna Nicholson serving as producer. (Deadline.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Natalie Dreyfuss has been cast as the much-ballyhooed Sue Dearbon, "the daughter to one of Central City's most wealthy families. But there's much more to Sue than just the socialite reputation that always precedes her, which master detective Ralph will discover when they finally meet later during Season 6." (TVLine.com)
GUMSHOE (HBO Max, New!) - Writers Aaron Brownstein and Simon Ganz are set to team with director Randall Einhorn for a single-camera comedy on the streaming service "about a sweet, optimistic young cop and a creepy, crime-obsessed teenager who secretly team up to solve a murder." The project, which has a pilot order, will also be executive produced by Conaco's Conan O'Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, and Larry Sullivan. HBO Max will also serve as the studio. (Deadline.com)
HAWAII FIVE-0/MAGNUM P.I. (CBS) - The Eye has scheduled the series to formally crossover with their Friday, January 3 episodes. (TVLine.com)
HIGHER LOYALTY, A (CBSS) - The studio's adaptation of the James Comey book has tapped Kingsley Ben-Adir as Barack Obama; Brian D'Arcy James as Mark Giuliano, the former FBI Deputy Director; Steve Zissis as Jim Baker, the former FBI General Counsel; and Shawn Doyle as Bill Priestap, the assistant director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division. LIAM HEMSWORTH QUIBI PROJECT (Quibi) - Billy Burke, Aaron Poole and Christopher Webster are the latest additions to the drama series, which also stars Liam Hemsworth, Christoph Waltz and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. No details about their roles were released. (Deadline.com)
MARVEL'S LOKI (Disney+) - Sophia Di Martino is in talks to join Tom Hiddleston in the Marvel entry for the streaming service. No details about her character were given. Production is expected to start at the beginning of 2020. (Variety.com)
MEMORY HOLE (Quibi, New!) - Will Arnett is set to host a new comedy series for the streaming service which "will explore the archives of the most cringe-worthy events in pop culture. The first season will be laser focused on Canada with Canadian Arnett skewering a myriad of topics most people forgot or never even knew existed." Shout! Studios, Do Things! and Electric Avenue are behind the project, with Arnett, Scott Vrooman, Tim Fornara, Brent Haynes, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos executive producing and Amy Kim and Jaime Burke as producers. MOSQUITO COAST (Apple TV+) - Kimberly Elise has signed onto the Justin Theroux-led drama as Jones, "a mysterious government agent tracking Allie and his family." (Deadline.com)
NASH BRIDGES (USA) - Cheech Marin has signed onto the cable channel's proposed revival of the former Don Johnson-led CBS staple. "We're writing it now," Johnson told "The Talk," "and it's a two-hour television film, and they're looking at it as kind of a way to launch it again as a series. Good Lord, I don't know how I feel about that." (Deadline.com)
NOW, THE (Quibi) - Bill Murray is set to recur on Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy series in a top secret role. (Deadline.com)
PIONEER, THE (NBC, New!) - Matt Nix and Bridget Tyler are looking to bring the latter's book to the small screen at the network. The 20th Century Fox Television-based project is about Alice Watson: "Still struggling with the aftermath of a tragic accident that killed her son, Alice and her headstrong daughter Joanna will have to overcome their emotional trauma when they find themselves unexpectedly pivotal in the survival of their family, and their colony, after the arrival on their new planet does not go according to plan." Temple Hill Entertainment's Marty Bowen and Adam Fishbach will also executive produce with Flying Glass of Milk Productions' Josh Levy and Pete Harris as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
PIVOTING (FOX, New!) - Liz Astrof has scored a script-plus-penalty commitment from the network for a single-camera comedy "set in a small, middle-class town in Long Island, where we follow three close-knit childhood friends, after the death of another. During the grieving period, when psychologists advise not to make any big decisions, our three friends do exactly that and upend their lives in an effort to find happiness while there is still time, taking on the mid-life challenge they never saw coming - becoming un-stuck." Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor will also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
SIN CITY (New!) - Legendary Television is set to team with Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez for a TV take on the famed comic book series-turned-film franchise. Said report indicates "the deal on the table is for Legendary to guarantee a first season of the show, contingent on them setting it up with a network or streaming platform. The deal with Miller also calls for a hard R animated series for a Sin City prequel based on Miller's graphic novels." (Deadline.com)
VARSITY BLUES (Quibi) - The streaming service has ordered its TV take on the 1999 high school football movie to series. Writer Tripper Clancy and director Anne Fletcher are behind the Paramount Television-based project, which will again "follow members of a high school football team and their battles with a demanding coach." Mike Tollin, Tova Laiter, John Gatins and Peter Guber of Mandalay Sports Media will also executive produce. (THR.com)
VEGAS HIGH (HBO Max, New!) - Writer Sarah-Raquel Jimenez and director Gillian Robespierre have scored a pilot order from the streaming service for a new drama billed as "a 90's set coming-of-age story about a girl caught between two worlds - the fast paced lifestyle of Las Vegas and her strong Mormon faith and community." Michael Showalter and Jordana Mollick of Semi-Formal Productions will also executive produce, as will Michael Lewen. HBO Max will also serve as the studio. (Deadline.com)
