CHEER (Netflix, New!) - One Potato Productions, Boardwalk Pictures and Caviar have booked a six-episode docu-series at the streaming service about the competitive cheerleaders of Navarro College in Corsicana, TX. The project, bowing January 8, is executive produced by Greg Whiteley, Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Jasper Thomlinson and Bert Hamelinck with Adam Leibowitz as a supervising producer and Arielle Kilker and Chelsea Yarnell as producers. (Deadline.com)
OBSESSED (The CW, New!) - Writer Jessica Amento and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson have sold a potential drama to the netlet about Farren Bell, "an outwardly optimistic millennial who struggles to conceal unwanted dark thoughts under her shiny blonde highlights. As a form of psychologist-approved exposure therapy, she joins forces with a coworker to launch a true crime podcast chronicling an active serial killer in L.A., helping her understand and confront her own fears while simultaneously putting her in imminent danger." Robinson, Jennie Snyder Urman and Joanna Klein are the executive producers for the CBS Television Studios-based Sutton Street Productions with Amento as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
RE-FRIENDED (FOX, New!) - Franchesca Ramsey and Shamikah Christina Martinez are set to star in a multi-camera comedy at the network about "two childhood friends (Ramsey, Martinez) who stayed connected through the years via social media. When they become roommates as adults, they realize how much they don't know each other at all, and have to "re-friend" over again and learn how to live with and love the un-curated versions of themselves." Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment are behind the project, which Ramsey and Martinez will co-write and executive produce alongside Vijal Patel and K&L Productions' Kay Cannon and Laverne McKinnon. SUCCESSION (HBO) - Creator Jesse Armstrong has signed a three-year overall deal with the pay channel. The pact covers his duties on the series as well as any future TV development. (THR.com)
