61ST STREET (AMC) - Tosin Cole and Bentley Green have both joined the Courtney B. Vance-led drama. Cole will play Moses, "a kid from Chicago's South Side. Athletic, smart, savvy, funny and a seriously gifted runner, his future is mapped out. He's 24 hours away from leaving home to take up an athletic scholarship at a college in New Hampshire, which is when he has an encounter with the Chicago Police Department that ends in the death of a white officer and Moses' arrest for his killing." Green will portray Joshua, "younger brother of Moses. Joshua is in the middle of trying to work out how he's going to be the man of the house when his older brother leaves for college when Moses is caught up in an encounter with the police that will change both their lives forever." AMBITIONS (OWN) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on the drama after one season. "We're thankful to Will Packer, Jamey Giddens and the entire cast and crew of Ambitions for their creativity and hard work on the show. Every week they delivered great drama, intrigue and a lot of fun storytelling," said Tina Perry, OWN president. "We look forward to continue working with Will Packer and his talented team of collaborators in the future." (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN AUTO (A.K.A. UNTITLED JUSTIN SPITZER PROJECT) (NBC) - Justin Spitzer's long-in-the-works single-camera comedy has received a pilot order from the network. The Universal Television-based project, originally sold in 2013, is "set at the headquarters of a major American automotive company in Detroit, where a floundering group of executives try to rediscover the company identity amidst a rapidly changing industry." Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN CRIME STORY (FX) - Betty Gilpin has been tapped to play conservative media pundit Ann Coulter in the franchise's "Impeachment" installment. (Deadline.com)
B POSITIVE (CBS, New!) - Marco Pennette has scored a pilot order from the Eye for a multi-camera comedy in which when "faced with finding a kidney donor, newly divorced dad Drew is at the end of his rope when he runs into Gina, a rough-around-the edges woman from his past who volunteers her own. Together they form an unlikely bond and begin a journey that will change both of their lives." The project is set up at Warner Bros. Television with Chuck Lorre also executive producing via his Chuck Lorre Productions banner. (Deadline.com)
CLEANING LADY, THE (FOX) - The network's import of the Argentine series has received a pilot order. Miranda Kwok is behind the project, which is set up at Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment. Melissa Carter and Amore & Vita Productions' Shay Mitchell also serve as executive producers. Its logline is as follows: "THE CLEANING LADY is a darkly aspirational character drama about a whip-smart doctor who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her ailing son. But when the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and marginalized. Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules..."
CRAZY FOR YOU (NBC, New!) - Rachele Lynn has landed a pilot commitment from the network for a single-camera comedy about "Daisy who, with her life stalling, re-enters the dating scene only to discover that while she was out of the game, the game sort of, totally, completely changed. Realizing she is a bit rusty at being "normal" and "appealing" on first dates, she'll need the support of her friends as she strives to succeed while being her true self in today's quick-to-dismiss dating culture." Broadway Video Television's Lorne Michaels and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions' Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker are the executive producers for Universal Television with Lynn as a co-executive producer. JEFFERIES (A.K.A. UNTITLED JEFFERIES & MARTIN PROJECT) (NBC) - The Jim Jefferies-led multi-camera comedy, in which he plays a fictionalized version of himself, is heading to pilot at the Peacock network. Jefferies and Suzanne Martin executive produce alongside Hazy Mills Productions' Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner and Brillstein Entertainment Partners' Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray for Universal Television. MANHUNT (Spectrum) - Timed with the release of "Manhunt: Deadly Games" on February 3, the company will also roll out "Hunted," a six-part, short-form docuseries which tells the "real story of the Atlanta bombing." Digital news brand ATTN is behind the project. (Deadline.com)
MY VILLAGE (A.K.A. UNTITLED KARI LIZER PROJECT) (ABC) - The Kari Lizer-penned multi-camera comedy is heading to pilot at the Alphabet. The project "revolves around an empty-nester mom who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family and as she reinserts herself into their lives, her kids realize they might actually need her more than they thought." Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios are co-producing. (Deadline.com)
POWER, THE (Amazon) - Eddie Marsan is the latest addition to the Naomi Alderman adaptation as Bernie Monke, "North London crime boss and father to Roxy. A man who lives by his own moral logic, he finds his relationship with his daughter irrevocably changed by the Power." (Deadline.com)
REBEL (ABC) - The Katey Sagal-led drama - inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today - has scored a pilot order from the Alphabet. Sagal will play Annie "Rebel" Bello, "a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. A funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves." Krista Vernoff penned the hour for Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios with Brockovich, Trip the Light's Alexandre Schmitt and Davis Entertainment's John Davis and John Fox also executive producing. Mike Stein is a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
SHOGUN (FX) - The long-in-the-works new limited series based on James Clavell's best-selling novel is set to move forward under incoming writer Justin Marks. He succeeds Ronan Bennett, who in turn took over from Nigel Williams when it was set up at sibling FOX in 2013. Marks and supervising producer Rachel Kondo penned the first two episodes of the new incarnation, which has also added Shannon Goss as a co-executive producer and Matt Lambert as a consulting producer. Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Michael De Luca, Michaela Clavell and Tim Van Patten remain attached as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
SOMEONE OUT THERE (NBC, New!) - Josh Siegal and Dylan Morgan have scored a pilot order from the network for a domestic take on Javier Veiga's Spanish format "Pequeñas Coincidencias," about "two set-in-their-ways adults who are challenged by very unexpected strangers to become the best versions of themselves in order to find love and possibly each other." The single-camera comedy is executive produced by Siegal, Morgan, Veiga, Matt Hubbard, Emiliano Calemzuk and Gonzalo Sagardia for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LAST CHANCE U PROJECT (Spectrum) - Graham Gordy and Daniel Campbell have signed on to pen the proposed drama, inspired by the real-life trials and tribulations of Brittany Wagner. Courteney Cox is attached to play Wagner, as well as executive produce alongside Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED OBI-WAN KENOBI SERIES (Disney+) - The proposed Ewan McGregor-led series has been put on hold "as the streamer and Lucasfilm look to overhaul early scripts and find new writers." Writer Hossein Amini and director Deborah Chow had previously been tapped to spearhead the project. The former has presumably been released from the project. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED PHIL AUGUSTA JACKSON PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Phil Augusta Jackson has received a pilot order from the network for a single-camera comedy about "a group of black friends, their dating lives and wine." Dan Goor will also serve as an executive producer for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED YOUNG DYLAN PROJECT (Nickelodeon) - Carl Anthony Payne II, Mieko Hillman, Celina Smith, Hero Hunter and Aloma Wright have all been cast in the Dylan Gilmer-led comedy series from Tyler Perry. In the project, "when Dylan's grandmother Viola (Wright) realizes raising her grandson is too much to take on, she decides to send him to live indefinitely with her affluent son Myles Wilson (Payne), his wife Yasmine (Hillman) and their two kids Rebecca (Smith) and Charlie (Hunter)." Michelle Sneed also serves as an executive producer with Will Areu and Mark E. Swinton producing. (Deadline.com)
