25 WORDS OR LESS/DIVORCE COURT/DISH NATION (Syndication) - The Fox Television Stations group, which includes nine of the 10 top U.S. markets, has cleared all three series through the 2022-2023 season. (Deadline.com)
CONTAINER CUP, THE (TBS, New!) - The cable channel is developing a domestic take on the Belgian format which "pits athletic celebrities against professional athletes in a series of intense challenges covering a number of sports, except it all takes place inside two massive shipping containers, each equipped with numerous cameras and delivered directly to the competitors' respective homes." 3 Ball Entertainment is producing. No specific auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
GET LUCKY (NBC, New!) - Rob Thomas has scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a new drama in which "for the popular wedding band Get Lucky, every week there's a new to gig play, a new love story, and a new chance to experience a sweaty, giddy, nearly forgotten feeling of togetherness. For six single musicians who are themselves looking for love, what does it mean to get lucky in a post-pandemic world?" The project is set up at his Warner Bros. Television-based Spondoolie Productions with Dan Etheridge also executive producing and Rebecca Franko producing. (Deadline.com)
HEELS (Starz) - Trey Tucker and Robby Ramos are both bound for the wrestling drama as Bobby Pin, "a pure-hearted Texan who's a rookie at pro wrestling but a veteran at being a nice guy"; and Diego, "[who] wrestles as a Heel, but in the locker room, he's a wisecracking and always encouraging colleague and friend," respectively. (Deadline.com)
HUNTERS/RIGHT STUFF, THE (Amazon/Disney+) - Both series have landed "some very generous tax credits from the state of California," trigging their productions to relocate to said state. The former, which shot its inaugural season in New York, will receive $18.8 million for its second season while the latter, which filmed in Florida, has been awarded $13.7 million for its sophomore run should it move forward. (Deadline.com)
KUNG FU (The CW) - Yvonne Chapman is the latest to recur on the reboot series as Zhilan, "a hard-edged and cunning assassin, ruthless in achieving her goals. After stealing an ancient sword from Nicky's (Olivia Liang) shifu Pei-Ling–and nearly killing Nicky in the process - Zhilan flees China and begins her pursuit of the rest of the mystical weapons. The mystery of Zhilan's identity, and her real intentions with those weapons, will fuel Nicky's quest for justice." (Deadline.com)
SNOWFALL (FX) - Antonio Jaramillo has scored a recurring role on the new season as Oscar Fuentes, "the new Tijuana Police chief who is bold, ambitious, connected, smart and dangerous. He's willing to let Teddy and Gustavo continue to go about their business in Mexico but only if they make it worth his while." (Deadline.com)
WAITING TO EXHALE (ABC, New!) - Writers Attica Locke and Tembi Locke along with director Anthony Hemingway are spearheading a TV take on the 1995 film, which "looks at the next generation of our women through the lens of the tangled friendships and complicated lives of their daughters." Lee Daniels, Marc Velez, Richard Abate, Jermaine Johnson and Will Rowbotham will also executive produce the project, which has a script commitment with a penalty attached, for 3 Arts Entertainment, Lee Daniels Entertainment and 20th Television. Terry McMillan, whose novel upon which the film was based, is a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
YOU (Netflix) - Dylan Arnold and Tati Gabrielle will join Saffron Burrows as new regulars for the show's upcoming third season. Burrows returns as Love's mother, Dottie, while Arnold plays Theo, "a college student with a strained and complicated relationship with his stepfather"; with Gabrielle as Marienne, "a smart, no-nonsense librarian who doesn't let much get by her." Additionally, Michaela McManus will recur as Natalie, "Joe's next door neighbor and subject of his growing fascination"; Shannon Chan-Kent as Kiki, "a devoted member of Sherry's cliquish "mean girl" friend group"; Ben Mehl as Dante, "a librarian who retains his wit and equanimity no matter what the day brings"; Chris O'Shea as Andrew, "an adoring member of Sherry's cliquish inner circle"; Christopher Sean as Brandon, "Kiki's husband"; Bryan Safi as Jackson, "Andrew's wry husband"; Mackenzie Astin as Gil, "a mild-mannered geology professor"; Ayelet Zurer as Chandra, "a chic, brusque, but extremely seasoned couple's therapist"; and Jack Fisher as Young Joe Goldberg.
