ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL (PBS) - The network has confirmed the series - which makes its U.S. premiere on Sunday, January 10 - will return for a second six-part season. (@channel5_tv)
ALL RISE (CBS) - Anne Heche will recur on the legal drama as Corrine Cuthbert, "an infamous trial attorney who often is called upon by police unions to defend officers accused of violent crime. She is wicked smart, using humor as a distraction while she verbally destroys anyone who gets in her way." (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (ABC) - Jake Choi has joined the cast of the comedy series as J.D., "a recent divorcee and aspiring father who becomes fast friends with Katie (Katy Mixon) and Tami (Holly Robinson Peete)." (Variety.com)
DONNER PARTY, THE (History, New!) - Ric Burns is developing a mini-series at the network which "explores one of America's most iconic and tragic pioneer stories. Setting out for California in the Spring of 1846, James Reed, his family, and a hopeful wagon train of migrants were drawn by the promise of a better life out west. Little did they know that their ill-fated expedition, doomed to be trapped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for the winter, would face unimaginable hardships that brought out the best, and worst, in humanity." Cineflix Media, Steeplechase Films and Augusta Films are co-producing with Nancy Buirski also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Production on the series has been temporarily suspended after "a team member working on the [series] in Vancouver has tested positive for COVID-19." (Deadline.com, 11/29)
FOSTER FRIENDS (CBS, New!) - Chris Hazzard and Michael Fontana are developing a single-camera comedy at the Eye which "follows three foster-parent couples who team to adopt a sibling set of five children, resulting in three very different sets of parents trying to raise one group of kids." Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo will also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
HEAD OF THE CLASS (HBO Max) - Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is bound for the reboot series pilot as Makayla Washington, "a business-savvy, life-chronicling Insta-queen." (Deadline.com)
PLAGUE YEAR, THE (History, New!) - Coleman Herbert is spearheading a potential mini-series at the cable channel billed as "a portrait of 1665 London, during one of the all-time worst outbreaks of the Bubonic Plague. It's the story of a society in turmoil, struggling to adapt to a new set of rules, finding its footing during a time of fear, paranoia, and suspicion. As Londoners flee in droves, those who remain in the city, whether by choice or by fate, find their resolves tested and old wounds reopened, as they are faced with an impossible question: how do you keep going when everything around you has fallen to pieces?" A+E Studios is behind the project with Michael Hirst likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
SAVED BY THE BELL (Peacock) - The streamer will remove scenes from the series in which characters joke about Selena Gomez's 2017 kidney transplant after "receiving backlash from Selena Gomez fans on social media." (Deadline.com)
SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE (HBO) - Production on the Jessica Chastain/Oscar Isaac-led limited series "has been halted for two weeks after two positive COVID tests from members of the production." (Deadline.com)
SURFACE (Apple TV+, New!) - Gugu Mbatha-Raw is attached to star in a new psychological thriller series for the streaming service from Veronica West. No plot specifics were given about the project, which has a straight-to-series order for eight episodes. Hello Sunshine's Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will also executive produce for Apple Studios. Mbatha-Raw will also receive a co-executive producer credit. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JOHN HEILEMANN PROJECT (Showtime, New!) - The pay channel has optioned the screen rights to John Heilemann's upcoming book for Simon & Schuster "about the 2020 election and Joe Biden's rise to the Presidency." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SUSAN SAVAGE PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Much-ballyhooed actress Felicity Huffman is attached to star alongside Zack Gottsagen in a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet and ABC Signature inspired by the life of Susan Savage, the real-life owner of the Triple-A baseball team the Sacramento River Cats. Huffman stars as "the unlikely owner of a minor-league baseball team. After suddenly losing her husband and inheriting his beloved team, she is forced to navigate her new normal with the help of her dysfunctional family, including her oldest son (Gottsagen), a baseball devotee with Down syndrome, her work family and the Sacramento community at large." Becky Hartman Edwards is behind the project, which has a pilot production commitment, with Hartman Edwards, Huffman and Savage executive producing alongside Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor and Artists First's Joel Zadak. Gottsagen is a producer. (Deadline.com)
WILLOW (Disney+) - Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny and Erin Kellyman are in talks to star in the TV series follow-up to the 1988 fantasy movie. Bamber is believed to be playing Dove, "an unassuming kitchen maid who proves she is the "chosen one" as she embarks on the journey"; with Spaeny as Kit, "the princess whose twin brother was abducted; she is destined to be a leader and ultimately the queen"; and Kellyman as Jade, "a servant who is Kit's best friend and moral compass; she is on her way to becoming the best young warrior in the kingdom."
