BIG LEAP, THE (FOX) - Piper Perabo, Kevin Daniels and Mallory Jansen have all been cast in the drama pilot, which centers on a group of diverse underdogs from all different walks of life who compete to be part of a competition reality series that is putting on a modern, hip remake of "Swan Lake." Two are recastings due to scheduling conflicts after the coronavirus pandemic pushed the production timeline: Perabo will play Paula Dirks, taking over from Laura Benanti; and Daniels will portray Wayne Sleep, replacing Matt Lucas. Jansen then will play Monica Sullivan, "a former ballerina with an acid tongue who has come on to co-host and choreograph The Big Leap. She is intimidating, ruthless and convinced that this show is going to be an absolute disaster." (Deadline.com)
BRIDGE AND TUNNEL (Epix) - Barrett Wilbert Weed will recur on the newcomer as Lizzie, "the artsy, sarcastic older sister of Pags (Brian Muller), who dreams of rock stardom for her all-girl punk band, Wildfire." (Deadline.com)
CANDY (Hulu, New!) - Elisabeth Moss, Robin Veith and Nick Antosca are set to team for a new limited series at the streaming service "set in Texas in 1980 and based on the true story of killer Candy Montgomery and her victim, Betty Gore. Moss will play Montgomery, who seemingly had it all - a loving husband with a good job, a daughter and a son, a nice house in the brand new suburbs - so why did she kill her friend from church with an ax?" Universal Content Productions and 20th Television are behind the project, which is opening a writers' room. Love & Squalor's Lindsey McManus and Eat The Cat's Alex Hedlund will executive produce alongside Moss, Antosca and Veith, the latter of which penned the pilot script. Michael Uppendhal is attached to direct while Jim Atkinson and John Bloom are consulting producers. (Deadline.com)
DANNI DELGADO (CBS, New!) - The Eye is the latest network looking to import the German series "Danni Lowinski," about "a scrappy hairdresser who graduates from law school and sets up her own practice in a shopping mall kiosk." Nicki Renna is spearheading the latest take, following efforts at The CW in 2011 and NBC in 2017. Jennie Snyder Urman and Joanna Klein of Sutton St. Productions; Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter of Intrigue Entertainment; and Shirley Bowers of Red Arrow Studios International are also among the executive producers for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
DUCKTALES (Disney XD) - The reboot series will not continue past its current third season. "The talented creative team, led by Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones, have delivered exceptional storytelling with uniquely reimagined characters for three seasons of 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts," a Disney XD spokesperson said in a statement. "While physical production is wrapping, DuckTales continues to be available daily on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world and fans will get an epic season finale in 2021." (Deadline.com)
FAMILY REUNION (Netflix) - Three production members working on the show's second season have tested positive for COVID-19 however the series "has remained in production without the affected individuals." (Deadline.com)
MORNING SHOW, THE (Apple TV+) - Julianna Margulies is the latest addition to the show's second season as Laura Peterson, "an anchor at UBA News." (Variety.com)
MOTORHEADS (IMDb TV, New!) - John A. Norris is developing a new drama at the streamer set in "a blue collar steel town trying to reinvent itself, [in which] some characters will navigate the hierarchy and rules of high school, while others will be running from a dark past looking for new beginnings." Cavalry Media's Dana Brunetti will presumably also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
NEVER HAVE I EVER (Netflix) - Rushi Kota will return as Prashant, "Kamala's (Richa Moorjani) long-distance boyfriend, a current doctoral engineering student at the University of Chicago," on the show's upcoming second season. (Deadline.com)
ROOKIE, THE (ABC) - Brandon Routh has been tapped for a potential season-long arc on the upcoming third season as Doug Stanton, "an eleven-year veteran of the LAPD, whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station." (Deadline.com)
SEAL TEAM (CBS) - Producers have confirmed co-star Jessica Paré's exit as a regular from the series following tonight's season premiere. (Deadline.com)
SYSTEM, THE (CBS, New!) - Elaine Del Valle has set up a potential drama at the Eye about "a compassionate yet jaded social worker [who] navigates the same broken New York City system she grew up in as she advocates to resolve issues for every family she encounters while struggling to fix her own." Arika Mittman and Andrea Navedo, who may potentially star, will executive produce alongside Jennie Snyder Urman and Joanna Klein of Sutton St. Productions for CBS Studios. Del Valle serves as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TEXAS MEDICAL PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Brittany Northcross and Sallie Patrick have set up a medical drama at the Eye in which "on the heels of a family rift, a renowned San Francisco pathologist more invested in research than patient interaction relocates to a rural Texas town in the middle of a vast medical desert to become the area's only doctor." Franklin Entertainment's DeVon Franklin and Rabbit Ears' James Mackay will also executive produce for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
UPSHAWS, THE (Netflix) - The Wanda Sykes/Mike Epps-led comedy has cast Gabrielle Dennis as Tasha Lewis, "the "say what she feels" neighborhood hairstylist and around-the-way girl"; Page Kennedy as Duck, "Bennie's (Epps) childhood friend and biggest cheerleader"; Diamond Lyons as Kelvin Upshaw, "Bennie's 13-year-old son, (who he had on a "break" with his wife with another woman)"; Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins as Aaliyah Upshaw, "the smart, precocious middle child in the family"; Jermelle Simon as Bernard Upshaw, "the stiff and stuffy oldest son of the family (he was conceived while his parents were still in high school)"; and Journey Christine as Maya Upshaw, "the 6-year-old baby of the family." Kim Fields also stars. (Deadline.com)
VANTAGE POINT (NBC, New!) - Barry Levy is developing a TV series take on his 2008 movie, which "told the story of an assassination attempt on the President of the United States through the vantage points of different characters." Sony Pictures Television is behind the project with Carla Kettner; Josh Berman and Jen Robinson of Osprey Productions; and Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film also executive producing. Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver were among the film's co-stars. (Deadline.com)
WOMEN'S STUDIES (HBO Max, New!) - Natalia Castells-Esquivel and Dani Chase have sold a one-hour dramedy to the streamer which follows Adriana, "a Mexican-American, who starts her first day at a women's college in Atlanta filled with "queer AF, feminist women" - but it doesn't seem like Adriana's scene considering she is superficial and a little ignorant. But like Alice in Wonderland, her ideas and values are challenged the second she steps on campus." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
