BOOB'S LIFE, A (HBO Max, New!) - Leslie Lehr's upcoming novel, subtitled "How America's Obsession Shaped Me - and You," is being developed as a half-hour comedy at the streaming service about Leslie, "a woman turning 40 and in crisis, whose life gets turned upside down when her boobs start talking to her, forcing her to look at herself in a completely different light." Cynthia Mort is penning the project with Lehr; Ventanarosa Productions' Salma Hayek, Jose Tamez and Siobhan Flynn; and Wheeler Girl Productions' Melissa Oman and Julie R. Snyder also executive producing. Ventanarosa recently signed a first-look deal at the streamer. (Deadline.com)
BREATHE (Netflix, New!) - Martin Gero and Brendan Gall have scored a six-episode order from the streamer for a new drama in which "when a small plane crashes in the middle of the Canadian wilderness, a lone woman must battle the elements and odds to survive." MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN (New!) - Emily Hampshire is attached to co-write and star in a proposed reboot of Norman Lear's 1976-77 series about "a small-town woman (Hampshire) who feels like a nobody in every aspect of her life until she suddenly becomes a "Verified" social media somebody. The remake will bring the original show's satirical look at consumer culture into today's social [me]dia world, where "America's Typical Consumer Housewife" has now become the product consumed when her nervous breakdown goes viral." Sony Pictures Television is behind the project with co-writer Jacob Tierney and Act III Productions' Lear and Brent Miller also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
NICK CANNON PRESENTS: WILD 'N OUT (VH1) - Seven months after being dropped from ViacomCBS's various cable channels due to anti-Semitic comments by host Nick Cannon, the series is expected to resume production. "Nick has not only apologized and taken responsibility for his comments, but he has also worked to educate himself and others through engagement with Jewish leaders and on his platforms," an MTV Entertainment Group spokesperson said in a statement. "Those efforts are of the utmost importance and that's why we have invited him to rejoin our team. On a separate note, we just learned that he tested positive for COVID and have reached out to wish him a speedy recovery." Repeats are returning to VH1's lineup this week. (Variety.com)
OUTER RANGE (Amazon) - The Josh Brolin-led drama paused production this week "after the show's rigorous testing protocols, which follow industry safety guidelines, produced a positive result." Filming is expected to resume on Monday. (Deadline.com)
PEACEMAKER (HBO Max) - Nhut Le has been cast as DC Comics hero Judomaster in "The Suicide Squad" spin-off series. No specifics about his character however were given. (Deadline.com)
