4400, THE (The CW) - Joseph David-Jones and Khailah Johnson are the first to be cast in the reboot series. David-Jones will play Rev Johnson, "who was raised in a powerful and affluent church family and disappeared in the 1990s. While he is a man of true faith and compassion, he is accustomed to the power and clout afforded by his position. He will emerge as a natural leader among the 4400." And Johnson plays Ladonna, "a high maintenance Miami party girl who disappeared on her 21st birthday. While she at first comes across as spoiled and vapid, she will end up tapping into her own potential in ways she never expected." (Deadline.com)
7 LIVES OF LEA, THE (Netflix, New!) - Raïka Hazanavicius, Khalil Ben Gharbia, Mélanie Doutey and Samuel Benchetrit are set to star in a new French original series at the streamer, which "follows a woman who stumbles upon the body of Ismael, a teenager who disappeared thirty years earlier, with the event taking her back to 1991 and seeing her wake up every morning in the body of a different person." The project, due in 2022, is created by Charlotte Sanson and produced by Empreinte Digitale. (Deadline.com)
BENDO (Netflix, New!) - Producers Elephant and Black Barbie have booked a new French series at the streamer, in which "to save her family, Fara, a rising TV journalist, must unite with her sisters and pay back 2 million Euro to a major drug dealer before the end of Ramadan, by all means." Due in 2022, the project is based on an original idea by Nawell Madani. (Deadline.com)
CONNERS, THE (ABC) - Danielle Harris, Brian Austin Green and Candice Bergen are slated to drop by the current season. Harris will return as Molly Tilden, "the Conners' next-door neighbor and a high school rival for David's (Johnny Galecki) affection." Green will appear on two upcoming episodes as Jeff, "a quirky, free spirit traveler who lives out of his van." And Bergen returns as "Ben's (Jay R. Ferguson) mother, Barb, who made her debut earlier this season." (Variety.com)
DROPOUT, THE (Hulu) - Naveen Andrews has signed onto the Amanda Seyfried-led limited series as Sunny Balwani, "Elizabeth Holmes' business partner and secret boyfriend throughout the rise and fall of Theranos." (Deadline.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Jordan Fisher has been cast as DC Comics hero Bart Allen a.k.a. Impulse on the series, "the future grandson of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Bart has a penchant for wildly impulsive behavior so Barry and Iris will definitely have their hands full trying to teach him patience. Barry and Iris may have their work cut out for them to wrangle Bart, but they will have to get it together if they want to stop Team Flash's biggest threat." He'll first appear in the show's 150th episode. (Deadline.com)
PERIPHERAL, THE (Amazon) - Jack Reynor is set to star opposite Chloë Grace Moretz and Gary Carr in the William Gibson adaptation, which "centers on Flynne (Moretz) and her brother Burton (Reynor). In the novel, Burton, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps' elite Haptic Recon force, is hired for a security job which takes place in what he thinks is cyberspace. When Flynne temporarily takes his place, she witnesses something that may have been murder." (Deadline.com)
POWERPUFF GIRLS, THE (The CW) - Donald Faison has been cast as Professor Drake Utonium in the live-action series pilot: "Described as quirky, debonair and a pinch narcissistic, Faison's Professor Drake is a scientific genius who is immensely proud of the three extraordinary girls he created in his lab. Staring down a midlife crisis, he is determined to repair his relationships with his now-adult daughters." (Deadline.com)
PROMISED LAND (ABC) - Mariel Molino has been cast alongside Christina Ochoa in the drama pilot as Camila Sandoval, "the youngest daughter of the Sandoval family, a wealthy vineyard-owning family in the Sonoma Valley. Her flirtatious, party-girl attitude masks a deeply flawed young woman who craves the achievements of her other siblings but has no idea how to attain them. No one expects anything from Camila. That makes her dangerous." (Deadline.com)
WOMEN OF THE MOVEMENT (ABC) - Gil Bellows is the latest addition to the limited series as Gerald Chatham, "the southern born District Attorney who fought to bring Emmett Till's killers to justice in a trial that would change the fabric of Gerald and Mississippi forever." (Deadline.com)
