CALLED (Peacock, New!) - Jessika Borsiczky is developing a new drama at the streamer which "will follow three young women at a convent, each on their own path, and each carrying secrets that force them to confront temptation, scandal, and self-discovery as they struggle with whether the answers do in fact lie in the Divine or back in the world they've left behind." The project is based on the Huffington Post article "Behold, The Millennial Nuns" by Eve Fairbanks. Kristen Campo will also executive produce for A+E Studios. (Variety.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - BAFTA Award-winner Tony Curran has joined the cast of the upcoming season as DC Comics villain Despero, "a powerful and intelligent alien possessing incredible telepathic powers who left his homeworld - Kalanor - under mysterious circumstances. Now he's facing a deadly mission on Earth, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash." (Deadline.com)
INFINITE THREAD (Amazon, New!) - Julius and Alston Ramsay have sold a new drama to Amazon Studios in which "after a pair of twins are abducted, a determined sheriff deputy embarks on a quest into the unknown that will alter the course of human history." LA LAW (ABC) - The Alphabet's revival of the series "has been moving very slowly through the decision-making process at the network" as "everyone is waiting for word from ABC on green light for the show." The report adds, "there is pressure for ABC to make a decision soon as a number of the key creative auspices, including [Blair] Underwood and [Anthony] Hemingway, have been approached for other projects and can't stay in limbo for much longer." (Deadline.com)
STAR TREK: PRODIGY (Paramount+) - Jimmi Simpson and John Noble have both joined the cast of the animated series. Noble will voice The Diviner: "A ruthless tyrant who controls the asteroid of Tars Lamora, The Diviner exploits wayward species and will stop at nothing in his hunt for the Protostar ship, no matter the cost. Though his goals are shrouded in mystery, his body is failing him and he created his progeny, Gwyn, to one day carry on his mission when she is ready for it." And Simpson is Drednok: "The Diviner's deadly robotic enforcer is heartless and cold. His sole purpose is to keep The Diviner on task and ensure that the Protostar is found. Drednok is a friend to no one, including The Diviner's own daughter Gwyn and uses his menacing spider-like form to impose The Diviner's will." (Deadline.com)
YELLOW BIRD (Paramount+, New!) - Sterlin Harjo and Erica Tremblay are set to team for a potential small screen take on Sierra Crane Murdoch's novel, subtitled "Oil, Murder and a Woman's Search for Justice in Indian Country."
