DIRECTOR, PRODUCER & ACADEMY AWARD(R)-NOMINATED ACTOR, ELLIOT PAGE SIGNS FIRST-LOOK DEAL WITH UCP

DEAL OPENS DOOR TO DEVELOP AND PRODUCE PROJECTS ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - August 31, 2021 - UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, today announced director, producer and Academy Award(R)-nominated actor Elliot Page has signed a first-look deal to develop scripted and unscripted projects across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.

Page currently stars in UCP and Netflix's global hit series "The Umbrella Academy," which follows a disbanded group of superheroes who reunite after their adoptive father dies. The drama is set to return for a third season and recently received four Emmy(R) nominations across various categories.

"I've always had great experiences working with UCP," said Elliot Page. "Beatrice and the rest of the leadership team support my desire to tell compelling and authentic stories from historically marginalized perspectives - stories that are desperately needed at this moment in time. I'm honored to continue my relationship with UCP in this capacity and I can't wait to get to work."

"Elliot Page is a changemaker in film and television, and we love collaborating with him on 'The Umbrella Academy,'" said Beatrice Springborn, President, UCP. "He, and all of us at UCP, champion the many and varied transgender and other underrepresented voices and stories in media. We are thrilled this partnership will amplify Elliot's work through exciting projects that cross genres and reflect distinct and diverse experiences."

Page's first-look deal speaks to UCP's ability to give visionary creators including Tanya Saracho, Christina Ham, Soo Hugh and Patrick MacManus - all of whom, among others, have deals with the studio - freedom and flexibility while simultaneously leveraging the power and scale of NBCUniversal.

Page is known for his indelible on-screen presence in both tentpole and art house films. His love for storytelling and passion for social justice have taken him behind the camera as a producer and documentary filmmaker whose work answers the call-to-action of a generation. A tireless champion of the underrepresented, Page uses his international platform to shed light on important social and LGBTQ+ issues. His work and advocacy are motivated and informed by the urgency of global issues that impact the most marginalized groups.

In 2020, Page publicly announced that he is transgender. Page continues to use his voice and platform to speak on issues of violence perpetrated against trans people, as well as confronting political leaders who seek to criminalize trans healthcare. In March of 2021, Page became the first openly transgender man to be featured solo on the cover of TIME Magazine.

Page's credits include but are not limited to his 2019 directorial debut of Netflix's "There's Something in the Water," Emmy(R)-nominated documentary series "Gaycation," "Tales of the City," "My Days of Mercy," "Freeheld," "Into the Forest," Christopher Nolan's Academy Award(R)-winning sci-fi thriller "Inception" and Jason Reitman's comedy "Juno," for which Page received an Academy Award(R) nomination, among other honors.

Page is represented by UTA, VIE Entertainment, ID Public Relations and the Law Offices of Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman.
