ANANSI BOYS (Amazon) - Malachi Kirby has landed the dual roles of Charlie Nancy and his brother, Spider, in the streamer's Neil Gaiman adaptation. The series follows Charlie, "a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father, Mr. Nancy (Delroy Lindo). But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that his father was Anansi: trickster god of stories. And he learns that he has a brother. Now his brother, Spider, is entering Charlie's life, determined to make it more interesting but making it a lot more dangerous." (Variety.com)
BEST AT IT, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Maulik Pancholy's debut middle-grade novel about Rahul Kapoor, "a gay Indian American teenager dealing with seventh grade, crushes and anxiety in small-town Indiana as he and his family seek to become the best versions of themselves," is being developed for TV by the streamer. He'll co-write the half-hour alongside Michael Golamco with Imminent Collision's Hieu Ho and Randall Park also executive producing. (THR.com)
DROPOUT, THE (Hulu) - The streamer's Elizabeth Holmes limited series has tapped the following for recurring roles: LisaGay Hamilton as Judith Baker, "Senior Editor as The Wall Street Journal"; Michaela Watkins as Linda Tanner, "the in-house lawyer at Theranos"; Ebon Moss-Bachrach as John Carreyrou, who "writes the article that helps reveal the truth behind Elizabeth Holmes and the inner workings of Theranos"; Kevin Sussman as Mark Roessler, "scientist in charge of labs at Theranos"; Sam Straley as Christian Holmes, "Elizabeth's younger brother who works at Theranos"; and Shaun J. Brown as Daniel Young, "a scientist who oversees the Theranos engineers." (Deadline.com)
FROM (Epix) - Corteon Moore, David Alpay, Elizabeth Saunders and Elizabeth Moy will round out the cast of the sci-fi horror series. Moore will play Ellis, "the estranged son of Sheriff Boyd and a resident of Colony House"; with Alpay as Jade, "a brash, entitled tech hot shot, who just sold his company for hundreds of millions of dollars"; Saunders as Donna, "the earthy, strong leader of Colony House - the town's separatist faction"; and Moy as Tain-Chen, "she is Kenny's mother and operates the town diner and supply depot." GENERATION (HBO Max) - The streamer has nixed the half-hour series after one season. "We will not be moving forward with a second season of Genera+ion," HBO Max said in a statement. "We are very proud to have partnered with Zelda and Daniel Barnz to faithfully and authentically represent LGBTQ youth with such a diverse group of characters and layered stories. We thank them and our wonderfully gifted cast for all their hard work and collaboration." (Deadline.com)
MONARCH (FOX) - Meagan Holder is the latest to be cast in the upcoming musical drama as Kayla Taylor-Roman: "She is the bold, ambitious and smart wife of Gigi Taylor-Roman (Ditto). Kayla is a successful music manager who keeps turning down Luke Roman's (John Sasse) offers to join forces with the family company, Monarch Entertainment. Outside business, Kayla's relationships with the Romans reflect a complicated history." (Deadline.com)
SNOWFALL (FX) - Devyn Tyler has joined the cast of the upcoming fifth season as Veronique: "She's smart, ambitious, with a worldly sophistication but also appreciates the small things and not completely defined by her drive.
