ALIEN (FX on Hulu) - FX topper John Landgraf gave the first specifics about Noah Hawley's TV series during the TCA Winter Press Tour: "Alien takes place before Ripley. It's the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth," said Landgraf. "So, it takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we're in - so 70-odd years from now." He added, "Ripley won't be a part of it or any of the other characters of Alien other than the alien itself." Five scripts have already been completed however Hawley will shoot season five of "Fargo" first "as it needs to go into production this winter given its Midwest setting." (Deadline.com)
ALL AMERICAN (The CW) - Christian James will recur on the series as Wade Waters, "full of East Coast privilege, Wade Waters is the arrogant but talented quarterback for GAU (Golden Angeles University). He enjoys his position of power over the freshmen and makes a point to haze them by putting them in uncomfortable situations and using team status to pressure the new guys into questionable choices." ATLANTA (FX) - The Donald Glover-led comedy series will sign off after its previously ordered fourth season. Season three rolls out Thursday, March 24. (Deadline.com)
CAMP FRIENDS (HBO Max) - The streamer has passed on the comedy pilot from writer Lauren Herstik and producer Adam Goodman. Said report indicates production was paused over positive COVID-19 tests and never resumed. Nonetheless, "producers supplemented the completed footage with animation and storyboards." No cast information was released. (Deadline.com)
CASAGRANDES, THE (Nickelodeon) - "The Loud House" spin-off has been canceled after three seasons. The remaining installments continue to air on Friday nights on the cable channel. (Axios.com)
CROWDED ROOM, THE (Apple TV+) - Amanda Seyfried will star opposite Tom Holland in the anthology series, which tells the story of Billy Milligan (Holland), the first person ever acquitted of a crime because of multiple personality disorder (now known as dissociative identity disorder). Seyfried will play Rya, "a clinical psychologist faced with the most challenging case of her career. She cannot help but put her patients first, all the while trying to balance her life as a single mother." Additionally, Kornel Mundruczo has been tapped to direct and executive produce the first season. (Deadline.com)
LOKI (Disney+) - Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have been tapped to co-direct a majority of the episodes for the upcoming season. All six planned installments will be written by Eric Martin. (Deadline.com)
OLD MAN, THE (FX on Hulu) - The Jeff Bridges-led drama has resumed production and is expected to bow this summer. Bridges announced in September he was in remission after undergoing cancer treatment for lymphoma. (Deadline.com)
PISTOL (FX) - The limited series about the legendary Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones is being targeted for a May premiere. (Deadline.com)
PLAYERS (Paramount+) - Moses Storm will recur on the upcoming esports series as Guru: "A former member of the team who transitioned to streaming instead, Guru is a brash, showboating "bro" type, with swagger and arrogance to spare. When defeated at a game over and over again, Guru absolutely loses it. As the team experiences hardships, he gleefully watches from afar." (Deadline.com)
REGINALD THE VAMPIRE (Syfy) - Sean Yves Lessard has scored a role on the series as Lebron: "Immaculately dressed, this vampire is someone you don't want to mess with as he delivers a message on behalf of his terrifying boss." (Deadline.com)
TOM SWIFT (The CW) - Marquise Vilsón, April Parker Jones and Albert Mwangi will round out the cast of the "Nancy Drew" spin-off series. Vilsón will play Isaac Vega, "Tom's bodyguard - trans, pansexual and a consummate badass. His simmering feelings for Tom will never get in the way of his duty and loyalty." Jones will portray Lorraine Swift, "Tom's mother. Debutante royalty with a kind heart. Her relationship with Tom is close and loving until the aftermath of his father's disappearance begins to drive a wedge between them." And Mwangi is Rowan, "a member of the security detail for a Congressman in Tom's orbit, Rowan's steely demeanor hides his mysterious past - and his star-crossed interest in Tom." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MATTHEW WEINER PROJECT (FX) - The cable channel is not moving forward with the proposed half-hour dramedy from Matthew Weiner. No plot details were ever released about the project. (THR.com)
