A+E NETWORKS AND GMC ELECTRIFY THE DRIVE BLOCK IN NEW HUMMER EV DOCUMENTARY SPECIAL
"REVOLUTION: GMC HUMMER EV" Premieres March 27th at 11am ET
on The HISTORY Channel
NEW YORK, NY (March 15, 2022) - A+E Networks and GMC have partnered to present the special "Revolution: GMC HUMMER EV," which documents the launch of the company's first all-electric pickup. The one-hour feature follows the General Motors team members who helped lead the process of designing and building the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV, a first-of-its-kind zero-emissions vehicle. "Revolution: GMC HUMMER EV" will premiere in the DRIVE block on The HISTORY Channel on Sunday, March 27 at 11am ET, with an encore presentation on FYI on Thursday March 31 at 9pm. The documentary will also be available through The HISTORY Channel on digital, VOD and Hulu, as well as GMC's YouTube channel starting Sunday, April 3.
"A+E Networks is proud to collaborate with GMC to bring car enthusiasts behind-the-scenes of the making the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV, GMC's first all-electric vehicle," said Mike Buccella, VP of Enthusiast Ad Sales, A+E Networks. "DRIVE viewers on The HISTORY Channel and FYI have an incredible passion for automotive innovation and adventure and this documentary delivers those in spades."
The film will go behind-the-scenes of key moments in the development of the all-electric supertruck as the team pushes the limits of the GMC HUMMER EV on snow and ice in the freezing temperatures of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Then, head to the scorching heat of Moab, Utah as they cross the desert and steep red rocks to fine-tune the truck's off-road capability.
"Having grown up in an automotive family, the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the creation of a vehicle as iconic as the GMC HUMMER EV was one I simply couldn't pass up," said Sean King O'Grady, director of the film. "What we discovered when we started capturing this process was far more fascinating than what we could have hoped for. We witnessed GM's first major entry into perhaps the greatest transformation of the auto industry in nearly a century, being executed by a bold and passionate team who inspired us more each day, giving us unfettered access to every step of this incredible journey."
The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV was launched in record time and the documentary crew's unfettered access captured every step of the process from inception to start of production. The documentary will also provide viewers a glimpse into GM's testing and development facilities, previously unseen by the public, and feature the build-out and retooling of facilities and technologies that reinforce GM's commitment to an all-electric future.
