AMERICAN GIGOLO (Showtime) - Nikki Toscano and Russell Rothberg have signed as consulting producers to the upcoming drama, following the exit of David Hollander after an investigation into allegations of misconduct. They'll work alongside David Bar Katz, who took over as showrunner. (Deadline.com)
COMPANY YOU KEEP, THE (ABC) - William Fichtner is set to star opposite Milo Ventimiglia and Catherine Haena Kim in the drama pilot as Leo: "A former steel worker turned grifter, Leo is a master of the sleight of hand. Cards, shell games, pick-pocketing, Leo learned the fine art of the misdirect a long time ago. A proud man who'd do anything for his family, Leo has a lifetime of regrets and soon he won't remember any of them. In the early stage of Alzheimer's, Leo is determined to pull off one last big score to make his family financially secure before he loses his faculties." (Deadline.com)
DISCLAIMER (Apple TV+) - Louis Partridge is the latest to be cast in the Cate Blanchett/Kevin Kline-led psychological thriller series as Jonathan Brigstocke, "a teenager on his gap year traveling through Italy who allows himself to give in to his deeper desires with unexpected consequences." MAN IN FULL, A (Netflix) - Two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels is set to star in the six-episode limited series based on Tom Wolfe's 1998 novel, which "revolves around Charlie Croker (Daniels), a polarizing and robust Atlanta real estate mogul who faces sudden bankruptcy. Crude, rude and irrepressible, Charlie defends his empire against all takers. At any cost." Writer David E. Kelley and director Regina King are behind the project with Matthew Tinker also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
PEARL (Netflix) - The animated project from Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex's Archewell Productions is not moving forward at the streaming service. (Deadline.com, 5/1)
PICTIONARY (Syndication) - The Jerry O'Connell-hosted game show strip is formally a go in 90% of the country for a fall 2022 national launch. (Deadline.com)
RIVERDALE (The CW) - Caroline Day is slated to recur on the current season as Heather, "a librarian in Greendale and Cheryl's long-rumored junior-high sweetheart. After tracking down Heather on social media, Cheryl gets in touch with her, much to Nana Rose's disapproval. Then, when Heather re-enters Cheryl's life, she does so with secret knowledge that may help Cheryl understand her emerging powers better." (Deadline.com)
SAINT X (Hulu) - Filming on the series was shut down Friday in the Dominican Republic "after several crew members, including the key grip and members of the electric unit, walked off the set." Said report adds they "allege that they were not compensated correctly for overtime, which led to their walk-off." A spokesperson said they will be replaced with other U.S. union members. SPRUNG (Freevee) - Kate Walsh, Camden Garcia and Andre Jamal Kinney are bound for the upcoming comedy series. Walsh will play Congresswoman Paula Tackleberry, "who is targeted by the group for using insider trading secrets to sell millions of dollars in stocks while assuring the public that the COVID-19 pandemic is nothing to worry about." Garcia then will play congressional aide Collin, "who unwittingly gets himself and his boyfriend involved in his boss's trading scheme surrounding the approval of COVID-19 vaccines." And Kinney is Collin's loving boyfriend, Brett, "who also gets wrapped up in the congresswoman's scheme. Brett has a passion for dance and tries to support his boyfriend's career as best he can." THIS JOKA (Roku) - The stand-up comedy series from Will Smith will not return for a second season on the streaming service. Roku, which acquired the completed episodes from the now defunct Quibi, reportedly "never really have had the option to renew the series" as it lapsed before Roku launched the show. Smith was also tapped to host his first comedy variety show for Roku however "the special was never filmed, and for obvious reasons, there's no plans to move forward with it at the streamer."
