BEFORE (Apple TV+, New!) - Billy Crystal is attached to star in a limited series at the streamer about Eli, "a child psychiatrist who recently lost his wife when he encounters a troubled young boy." Writer Sarah Thorp and director Barry Levinson are behind the project with all three executive producing alongside Eric Roth for Paramount Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
BIG CIGAR, THE (Apple TV+) - Tiffany Boone will star alongside Andre Holland in the limited series as Gwen Fontaine, "Huey's loyal girlfriend." (Deadline.com)
BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Emmy nominee Paul Reiser will drop by Friday's episode "in the fan-favorite role of The Legend." (Deadline.com)
CRIMINAL NATURE (ABC) - Ian Duff has been cast in the Michaela McManus/Parker Young-led drama pilot as Keldon, "a handsome, sexy, soulful and genuinely kind ISB (Investigative Services Branch) agent, Audrey's (McManus) partner and fiancé, who adores Audrey, and vice versa. A silky-smooth master of empathy and interrogation, Keldon and Audrey team up to catch the killer - but their partnership is thrown for a loop when Clay, Audrey's ex, joins their investigation." DEMASCUS (AMC) - Janet Hubert, Caleb Eberhardt and Shakira Ja'nai Paye have all been cast in the Okieriete Onaodowan-led sci-fi series. Hubert will play Dr. Bonnetville, "a psychotherapist with a quick wit and a smart mouth; she uses her patented blend of apathy and cutting edge technology to aid her patients on their quests for personal growth." Eberhardt is Redd, "Demascus' Bohemian artist best friend who is a reformed reprobate stumbling into adulthood, and he's determined to take Demascus with him." And Paye portrays Naomi, "an alluring performer who captures Demascus' heart and imagination during a chance meeting; she's a haunting missed connection and he can't stop wondering: "what if?"" HIGHTOWN (Starz) - Garret Dillahunt, Jeanine Serralles, Kaya Rosenthal, Michael Drayer, Ellie Barone and Taja V. Simpson are all slated to recur on the show's third season. Dillahunt will play Shane Frawley, "a charismatic and charming gangster from South Boston"; with Serralles as Rachel, "a lonely woman who lives with her grandmother, who has found comfort in writing letters to prisoners... which sends her down a dangerous path"; Rosenthal as Sarah, "a rookie cop, who has been assigned to Ray's unit on an undercover assignment"; Drayer as Owen Frawley, "nephew of Dillahunt's Shane, who was kicked off the Red Sox farm team for blatant steroid abuse and casual violence"; Barone as Veronica, "a tough working girl who's mysteriously gone missing and quickly becomes Jackie's latest obsession"; and Simpson as Janelle, "a no-nonsense physical therapist at the Provincetown prison, who can handle everything the prisoners throw her way." LAST KNOWN POSITION (Amazon, New!) - Gina Rodriguez is set to star in a TV take on her QCode mystery thriller podcast for Amazon Studios, which "charts the fallout of a brand new state-of-the-art American commercial jetliner vanishing on its maiden voyage over the Pacific. The ensuing air crash investigation discovers evidence of a creature of the deep that may have been responsible." The podcast's writer Luke Passmore is attached to adapt the project with Rob Herting, Sandra Yee Ling and Michele Zarate of QCode; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Justin Levy and Jeremy Platt of Automatik; and Rodriguez and Molly Breeskin of I Can and Will Productions also executive producing. POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN (Starz) - Chyna Layne will recur on the upcoming season as Andrea, "who is described as sexy, no nonsense and decent. Andrea has lived a lot of life and seen a lot. WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY (HBO) - Thomas Mann's Johnny Buss has been promoted to regular for the series' second season. (Deadline.com)
YONDER (Paramount+, New!) - The streamer is set to be the home to CJ ENM's upcoming series outside its native Korea: "Set in 2032, Yonder is a drama/sci-fi series about a man who receives a message from his deceased wife inviting him to the mysterious titular space which has been designed for the dead to be able to live on by uploading their memories. The show raises questions about what it means to have eternal happiness as humanity faces a world altered by advancements in science and technology." Director Lee Joon-ik is behind the project.
