BEST BUDS (Peacock, New!) - Caitie Delaney and Caleb Hearon have sold an animated comedy to the streamer which centers "on Calvin, who works at his family-owned flower shop (called Best Buds), the "crown jewel of the local strip mall." When his best friend, Evelyn, comes back to town after dropping out of grad school, he gets her a job at the shop and they begin a mission to bring the place out of the 1980s and into the present." Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, Dustin Davis and Joe Bennett will also executive produce for Universal Television and Bandera Entertainment. (THR.com)
BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been tapped for a top secret recurring role on the show's fourth season. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Sasha Roiz and Lilah Richcreek Estrada are slated to recur on the upcoming season. Roiz is set to portray Jack Egan, "a multimillionaire renaissance man"; while Richcreek Estrada is set as Nellie Cuevas, "a psych fellow working alongside Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt)." (Deadline.com)
CLEANING LADY, THE (FOX) - Creator Miranda Kwok has been named co-showrunner of the drama series beginning with its seventh episode this season. She'll serve alongside fellow executive producer Melissa Carter. (Deadline.com)
DANGER FORCE (Nickelodeon) - The cable channel has renewed the series for a third season. Production is currently underway in Burbank, California. (Deadline.com)
GILDED AGE, THE (HBO) - Melanie Nicholls-King will recur in at least three episodes of the upcoming season as "famed educator and suffragist Sarah Garnet." (TVLine.com)
GLAMOROUS (Netflix) - Ricardo Chavira will recur on the upcoming drama as Teddy: "The handsome personal full-time driver for makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Kim Cattrall), as well as maybe her closest confidant. Professional but unpolished, Teddy is not wow'd by Madolyn's celebrity or beauty and enjoys calling her out on her bullshit and telling it to her like it is. Their friendly sparring and frank relationship betray a chemistry that could lead to more, if either of them was willing to admit it." (Deadline.com)
HUNTING PARTY, THE (NBC, New!) - J.J. Bailey has signed an exclusive overall deal with Universal Television where he'll develop new series projects. First up: "The Hunting Party," which "revolves around a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that's not supposed to exist." Jake Coburn will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
MRS SIDHU INVESTIGATES (Acorn TV, New!) - Meera Syal, Craig Parkinson, Gurjeet Singh and Naana Agyei-Ampadu will star in a four-part series for the streamer, based on the BBC Radio 4 series of the same name, which "will follow Mrs Sidhu (Syal), a recently widowed high-end caterer who solves murders and other crimes among the affluent residents of the English county of Berkshire. She uses a lifetime as an 'Indian Aunty' to sharpen her skills as an investigator, while juggling her new catering business with wrangling with her wayward son Tez, played by Gurjeet Singh. She forms an unofficial partnership with world weary police office DCI Burton (Parkinson), much to the amusement of his official partner DS Mint (Agyei-Ampadu)." The project comes from Suk Pannu with Syal, Catherine Mackin, Bea Tammer, Jane Wallbank, Alison Owen, Debra Hayward, Alison Carpenter, Gordon Kennedy and director Steve Barron also executive producing for Monumental Television, Absolutely Productions and Acorn Media Enterprises. ORPHAN BLACK: ECHOES (AMC) - Amanda Fix and Avan Jogia have both scored roles on the offshoot series. Fix will play Jules, "a salty teen trying to find herself. The newly adopted daughter of wealthy parents, Jules is tough as nails, a little reckless but brutally smart." And Jogia will portray "Lucy's (Krysten Ritter) boyfriend Jack, a soft-spoken former army medic and single father. He's devoted his life to raising his daughter and discovers the woman he loves has an unimaginable secret." (Deadline.com)
PERFECT COUPLE, THE (Netflix) - Jenna Lamia's adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's novel has found a new home at the streaming service. Originally set up at FOX in 2019, the six-episode limited series "centers on Celeste Otis, who is about to marry the perfect man - who happens to be from the wealthiest family on Nantucket. But when a body is found floating in the harbor on the morning of what was supposed to be the wedding of the year, everyone at the party becomes a suspect." Hilderbrand, Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady, Shawn Levy and Josh Barry will also executive produce for 21 Laps Entertainment and The Jackal Group. (THR.com)
UNTITLED ROBBIE WILLIAMS PROJECT (Netflix, New!) - Joe Pearlman is directing a documentary series for the streamer about British pop superstar Robbie Williams, that "will look at the media scrutiny that has followed the former Take That singer's career, his relationship with adulation and addiction and his professional and personal break ups. Footage captured over more than 25 years will be included in the no-holds-barred look at the entertainer and will reveal a more nuanced and multifaceted character." Asif Kapadia and Dominic Crossley-Holland are the executive producers for RSA, RPW Productions and ie:music. (Deadline.com)
