AMC Networks streaming service ALLBLK's legal drama series "Lace" Announces Start of Production for Season 2

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - Legal drama series, "Lace" from AMC Networks streaming service ALLBLK, has started production for Season 2 with lead actresses Maryam Basir (The Chi, FBI: International) and Tanyell Waivers (Queen Sugar) returning as series regulars. Season 2 will air more episodes including eight set to release beginning Summer 2023 with Antoine Harris (Ballers), Taylor Bynoe and Mollie Dolcimascolo (General Hospital) reprising their roles as supporting series regulars. "Lace" is Executive produced by co-creators, Michelle Ebony Hardy and Katrina Y. Nelson in association with Kemy Time Productions, alongside Adam Starks and Tracy Grant as respective co-creator and Executive Producer. Keena Ferguson (Atlanta, Sistas) is set to direct with both her and Nelson making their directorial debuts.

In the premiere season of "Lace", audiences were introduced to Lacey McCullough (Maryam Basir), a successful and highly connected lawyer, whose influence sometimes leads her down a very dark path. The prolific Los Angeles attorney often finds herself blurring the lines between right and wrong to protect her rich and powerful clientele. With the help of her trusted associates, McCullough faced some of her most mysterious and perilous cases to date. "Lace" features guest star appearances from Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show, From Scratch), Leonard Roberts (Heroes, Drumline), Isaac Stephen Montgomery (The Gray Man), Leticia LaBelle Martinez (The Seven Faces of Jane), Ellana Barksdale (How to Get Away with Murder), and Jordan T. Johnson all returning from Season 1. Guest star, Norman Towns (Insecure) will be introduced as a new cast member this season as Gideon Stone joining Lacey's team at McCullough and Associates.

"We're happy about the opportunity to go deeper in terms of what we initially set up and continuing from season one," says co-creator Tracy Grant. "We have a unique and passionate audience who let us know what they were feeling and what they're most excited about. A lot of what we set up in Season 1 story-wise, we're going to build on, explain and clarify. We're going to dig a little deeper into the back stories of these characters so that everybody really understands where Lacey's hustle and grind comes from, why she moves the way she does, and what this elevated world of Los Angeles is all about."

Season 2 will see Lacey reckoning with her internal and external fears both personally and professionally. Not only is her mother still in prison after exhausting all of her appeals, the truth of her daughter Zoe's paternity is being leveraged to ruin her reputation. Simultaneously, her assets have been frozen pending an FBI investigation which is causing a strain within the workplace environment at McCullough and Associates. Lacey has always prided herself on being a "strong black woman" - but with her list of enemies piling up, she may finally break.

"Kemy Time Productions is a company co-founded by two Black women whose motto is 'creating undeniable content'. Our love of storytelling and passion to tell those stories in smart, fresh, and compelling ways is what led us to combine our superpowers to produce Lace. As the first project sold under our joint imprint, we're excited to be working with UMC on this new series and we're honored to have found a home that values and empowers Black content creators," added Nelson and Ebony Hardy.
