Of Love, Loss and Fate: Japanese Romance Drama Series 'Beyond Goodbye' Premieres November 14
Chronicling heartbreak and destiny, the new romance drama Beyond Goodbye is set to premiere on November 14. Written by the renowned Yoshikazu Okada (The 8-Year Engagement, The Last 10 Years), the series stars Kasumi Arimura (We Made a Beautiful Bouquet, Call Me Chihiro) and Kentaro Sakaguchi (The Last 10 Years). The newly released teaser trailer and key art offer a glimpse into this bittersweet tale.
Beyond Goodbye tells the story of Saeko (Arimura), who loses the love of her life, Yusuke, in an accident on the day he proposes to her. Naruse (Sakaguchi) receives Yusuke's heart in a transplant, giving him a new lease on life. Drawn together by fate, Saeko and Naruse meet, and Yusuke's memories begin to awaken inside him. Set against the backdrop of Hokkaido and Hawaii, this story explores the enduring power of love.
The series has already made history as the first Japanese entry to be featured at this year's Busan International Film Festival Onscreen Category, which honors outstanding streaming dramas. Helmed by director Hiroshi Kurosaki, this project marks another collaboration with Okada following their work on the NHK serial TV novel Hiyokko.
The star-studded supporting cast includes:
Toma Ikuta as Yusuke Nakamachi, Saeko's beloved fiancé whose tragic death sets the story in motion
Yuri Nakamura as Miki, Naruse's wife
Tomokazu Miura as Hiro, a kind coffee grower in Hawaii who helps Saeko after Yusuke's death
Eita Okuno as Kengo, Yusuke's best friend
Ayumi Ito as Midori Tateishi, owner of the coffee company where Saeko works
Issey Ogata as Shinoda, a veteran coffee roaster at the company
Yuki Saito as Yuriko Nakamachi, Yusuke's mother
Kanji Furutachi as the conductor of the train where Saeko and Naruse meet
Yoshiko Miyazaki as Hiroko Sato, Miki's mother
Prepare for an emotional journey as Beyond Goodbye premieres on November 14, exclusively on Netflix.
