Tubi Greenlights Four Stubios Projects
Now fans can help a first-time filmmaker earn their greenlight
SAN FRANCISCO, October 22, 2024 - Tubi (www.tubi.tv), Fox Corporation's ad-supported streaming service, has launched Stubios and now viewers can dive into the platform to support their favorite creatives, discover new projects and engage in behind the scenes content as films and series are developed. Four Stubios greenlit by Tubi are now live on the platform in addition to 14 finalists selected from the pool of applications that went live this Spring. The finalist who receives the most engagement within their Stubio in three weeks will earn their greenlight and have their project on Tubi.
Fans can go behind the scenes as a cohort of Stubio runners, greenlit by Tubi, produce, direct and star in new projects, working titles and details include:
Lady London's docuseries will bring fans along the journey of her life and the creation of her debut album.
Kelon Campbell is starring in a feature film about his TikTok-viral character Terri Joe. The dramedy will have Terri Joe leaving her small town to see the world to discover if it's a big bad place of sin that her parents and pastor always preached about.
MO' WAFFLES: An original half-hour scripted comedy about a new diner on Atlanta's crowded restaurant scene. The series will star Grant Gibbs and Ashley Gill, of the TikTok comedy duo A Twink and a Redhead and Robin Jordan, an actress and content creator known for her comedic sketches about restaurant life.
JOKES ON US: NEW VOICES IN COMEDY: A comedy special airing on December 5th featuring new 15 minute sets from stand up comics Cris Sosa, Daniela Mora and Grant Moore.
"It has been so fulfilling to mentor these Stubio runners," said Issa Rae, co-founder of ColorCreative. "I love being involved in the development process. Resources matter, and between myself, Tubi and the team at ColorCreative, we're thrilled to support these talented creators and, hopefully, fast track their careers."
In addition to the four greenlit Stubios, 14 applicants have been selected to join the program and earn a greenlight from fans on the platform. Fans can learn about each project and support creatives by engaging with posts in their Stubio. The project that receives 15,000 engagements first, will receive a greenlight. If no one reaches that milestone within 3 weeks, the finalist with the top spot on the Stubios platform's leaderboard, will earn the greenlight.
Finalists were chosen by a panel of judges at Tubi and ColorCreative and selected on a variety of criteria including creativity of concept and differentiation from the current Tubi catalog. Projects run the gamut, from a horror film about a glamping trip gone wrong, a raunchy teen comedy about how a back seat hook up led to a lucrative rent-by-the-mile love hotel and a dramedy about a freestyle rapping food delivery driver, who struggles with panic attacks and financial hardship. Learn more about all the projects in the program here.
"The applicants selected to go through the greenlight experience represent the future of collaborative long-form content," said Nicole Parlapiano, CMO at Tubi. "We're excited to watch these finalists share their unique stories, grow their following and connect with their fans through Stubios. "
Joining the program as the first sponsor, PepsiCo's STARRY(R) will be featured in MO' WAFFLES. STARRY will be integrated into storylines in an organic way through product placements within the series.
"STARRY is a perfect partner to bring into the program, their affinity within the Gen Z adult audience and focus on telling irreverent stories made them a natural fit for our Mo' Waffles project," said Nicole Parlapiano, CMO at Tubi. "We're looking forward to bringing them along on the journey with our Stubio's fans."
Reaching more than 81 million monthly active users, Tubi is the most watched free TV and movie streaming service in the U.S. and recently, Tubi launched in the U.K. More than 25% of Tubi viewers watch Tubi Originals, like the premium programming that started rolling out this year - WYNONNA EARP: VENGEANCE, SIDELINED and THE Z-SUITE - which is reflective of the service's fastest growing segment of young and diverse viewers.
Fans can sign up for a free Stubios account here.
Official rules language: In order to win the Contest, an Entrant must reach "Greenlight Status." "Greenlight Status" goes to the first Entrant who earns fifteen thousand (15,000) points on the Stubios platform, or, if no one reaches that milestone by 11:59 pm PT on November 11, 2024, to the Entrant with the top spot on the Stubios platform's leaderboard.
