'The Crime Scene Weekly' With Brad Mielke, and the First Title in a Continuous '20/20'-Branded Narrative Series 'Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy,' With Brian Buckmire All Launch This Month
Today, ABC Audio announced a robust podcast slate in collaboration with "20/20," providing fans with new, always-on true crime content with "20/20: The After Show," "The Crime Scene Weekly," and "Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy." The new content strategy establishes ABC Audio as a news and true crime destination for listeners, with the announced titles joining "Start Here" and "20/20," The Walt Disney Company's top-performing podcast.
Launching today, "20/20: The After Show" is a weekly show hosted by "20/20" co-anchor Deborah Roberts. In this companion podcast to Friday's No. 1 newsmagazine, "20/20," listeners can hear the story behind each week's episode from the lucky breaks to the strange-but-true twists. Plus, they can experience exclusive bonus material not available anywhere else. "The Crime Scene Weekly," premiering Thursday, March 20, with host Brad Mielke, the host and managing editor of the award-winning daily news podcast "Start Here," focuses on what everybody is talking about in the true crime space each week. This deep dive features ABC News correspondents who are on the beat, plus a roster of seasoned analysts and experts.
ABC Audio greenlights a rotating narrative series that will provide context and analysis into both real-time true crime headlines and cases mined from ABC News' rich archive. "Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy," hosted by ABC News legal contributor and attorney Brian Buckmire and kicking off Tuesday, March 25, is the first in the ongoing series of "20/20" podcasts and will trace how whispers of abuse came to light and led to the stunning federal charges and civil lawsuits that Diddy now faces. Supported by "20/20" and ABC News' global newsgathering team, the initial six episodes of "Bad Rap" will provide fundamental reporting on the allegations and his claims of innocence. After this initial run ends, the series will pick up with twice-weekly episodes during the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs with real-time updates. Later this spring, ABC Audio will release the second narrative podcast, "What Happened to Holly Bobo?" hosted by Eva Pilgrim, co-anchor of "GMA3: What You Need to Know," diving deeper into the case of Holly Bobo, as reported on by "20/20," who went missing in 2011 and sparked the largest murder investigation in Tennessee history after the young nursing student was kidnapped from her home.
Also available today, ABC Audio is launching the brand-new "20/20 True Crime" channel on Apple Podcasts, where eager listeners can discover the brand's current and past true crime content.
"ABC Audio has a proven track record of creating gripping and award-winning true crime podcasts, and we're excited to build on that success in partnership with '20/20' to give listeners more of what they want," said Liz Alesse, vice president of ABC Audio. "Our expanded slate of new releases underscores our commitment to delivering powerful, must-listen stories that keep audiences engaged and informed."
