AMC Scores Highest Ratings in Network History with John Wayne Weekend
Island in the Sky and The High and the Mighty Add Further Strength to AMC's Record Ratings Year
AMC's world premiere of the restored John Wayne films Island in the Sky and The High and the Mighty delivered all time record ratings for the network this past weekend (7/16/05 - 7/17/05). The fully restored and digitally remastered classic Wayne movies had not been seen by the public in over 25 years.
The week's record ratings highlights include:
- On Saturday, July 16th, AMC delivered 3 million viewers for Island in the Sky, securing the network as #1 in primetime that evening for all ad-supported cable networks. AMC's broadcast of the film is the second highest telecast in the network's history.
- On Sunday, July 17th, AMC's delivered over 3.3 million viewers for The High and the Mighty, providing AMC's with the highest rated telecast in network history.
Today's announcement comes on the heels of AMC's record ratings performance in 2004 and 2005.
2004 provided AMC with its strongest year ever in total day and prime time households and key demo deliveries. Season-to-date, 2005 is now pacing to be break AMC's record breaking 2004 ratings, as it has celebrated its strongest first and second quarters ever in Q1 and Q2 2005, and its strongest-ever April, May and June performances.
AMC's previous primetime airings of John Wayne titles have posted strong ratings for AMC, averaging a 1.00 HH rating and attracting an average of 818,000 homes.
