Lifetime Television Continues Supremacy Among Ad Supported Cable Original Movies as 'Ambulance Girl,' Starring Kathy Bates, Draws More Than 4.8 Million Viewers During September 12th Premiere
-- Ranks #1 in Time Slot Among Households, W18-49 and W25-54
NEW YORK, Sept. 13 -- Lifetime Television, which boasts the
nine highest-rated original movies on basic cable this year (based on HH
rating), scored another triumph Monday night when "Ambulance Girl," starring
Academy Award(R)-winning actress Kathy Bates (who also directed), drew more
than 4.8 million viewers during its 9-11PM (ET/PT) premiere, making it the
most watched program on cable for the entire day.
The movie posted a 4.1 household rating and ranked #1 in its time slot
among Households, W18-49 and W25-54.
"Ambulance Girl" becomes the third highest-rated original movie on
ad-supported cable in 2005 behind Lifetime Original Movies Murder in the
Hamptons and Odd Girl Out (both with a 4.4 HH rating) and the seventh Lifetime
Original Movie this year to average more than 4 million viewers.
"Ambulance Girl," which co-starred Robin Thomas ("The Banger Sisters,"
"The Contender") was based on the candid and heartwarming true story of how a
celebrity food writer rescued herself and her marriage by creating a new life
as a volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT).
"Ambulance Girl" was produced by Patricia Clifford Productions in
association with von Zerneck-Sertner Films for Lifetime Television. Patricia
Clifford (Lifetime's "The Secret Life of Zoey," "Death of a Salesman"), Frank
von Zerneck and Robert M. Sertner (Lifetime's "We Were the Mulvaneys" and
"Gracie's Choice") are the executive producers. Bates directs from a teleplay
by Alan Hines ("The Interrogation of Michael Crow," Lifetime's "Dangerous
Child").
