Cartoon Network Tallies Seven Emmy Wins, Most in Network History

In a record-setting year, Cartoon Network will finish 2005 with its best performance ever in both kids� total day delivery and ratings for its primary target audience, kids 6-11, according to Nielsen Media Research. Kids 2-11 delivery and ratings also set new records for year-end total day (Monday-Sunday, 6 a.m.-6 a.m., kids� programming) performance. Highlights vs. last year�s year-to-date ratings include the following:

Cartoon Network Kids� Total Day (Monday-Sunday, 6 a.m. - 6 a.m., kids� programming)

- Best kids� total day performance in Cartoon Network history among kids and boys 6-11, kids and boys 2-11, and girls 6-11.

- Ranked #2 among ad-supported cable for annual delivery of kids 6-11, kids 2-11.

- Kids 6-11 delivery (464,000) increased by 6% and ratings (1.9) by 6%.

- Kids 2-11 delivery (737,000) grew by 1% and ratings (1.9) by 6%.

- Tweens 9-14 delivery (331,000) improved by 7% and ratings (1.3) were unchanged.

Cartoon Network Prime Time (Monday-Sunday, 8-11 p.m.)

- Ranked #1 among ad-supported cable for annual delivery of kids 6-11, kids 2-11.

The year also proved fruitful for Cartoon Network�s original series, with two high-profile launches that posted strong debuts and continued to earned ratings increases with new episodes airing throughout the summer. Camp Lazlo and The Life and Times of Juniper Lee joined established hits Foster�s Home for Imaginary Friends, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Ed, Edd n Eddy and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy in the Cartoon Network line-up. Highlights of their individual performances include the following:

Camp Lazlo (Series Debut July 8)

- Premiere (July 8) drew more than 5 million (5,076,000) different people 2+ to watch one of four Camp Lazlo telecasts, with each play earning triple and double-digit increases with target kid demos.

- Compared to the same time period in 2004, new episodes of Camp Lazlo airing this summer (Fridays at 8 p.m., July 8-Aug. 28) showed triple-digit increases with kids, boys and girls 6-11. Kids 6-11 delivery (849,000) increased 11%, while ratings (3.5) grew by 9%. Boys 6-11 delivery (606,000) rose 9%, while ratings (4.9) increased 7%. Girls 6-11 delivery (243,000) increased 19%, while ratings (2.1) climbed 17%.

The Life and Times of Juniper Lee (Series Debut May 30)

- The premiere of The Life and Times of Juniper Lee (Monday, May 30, 9-9:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period on all TV, broadcast and cable, in ratings and delivery with boys 2-11, kids 6-11 and boys 6-11.

- In its regular time slot (Sundays, 7:30-8 p.m.), premiere episodes of The Life and Times of Juniper Lee airing over the summer (May 30-Aug. 22) grew in delivery over the same time period the previous year with kids, boys and girls 6-11 and kids and boys 2-11.

Among its franchise programming, Cartoon Network achieved significant success with three of its key blocks targeted for young audiences. Overall 2005 highlights include the following:

FRIDAYS (Friday, 7 p.m.-12 a.m.)

- Kids 6-11 delivery (810,000) improved by 7% and ratings (3.3) by 6%.

- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,170,000) grew by 5% and ratings (2.9) by 4%.

MIGUZI (Monday-Friday, 5-7 p.m.)

- Kids 6-11 delivery (600,000) increased by 4% and ratings (2.5) expanded by 4%.

- Kids 2-11 delivery (923,000) grew 4%, while ratings (2.3) increased 5%.

- Girls 6-11 delivery (182,000) ballooned by 27%, while ratings (1.5) climbed 25%.

- Girls 2-11 delivery (316,000) improved 21%, while ratings (1.6) rose 23%.

TOONAMI (Saturday, 7-11 p.m.)

- Tweens 9-14 delivery (535,000) rose by 13%, while ratings (2.2) climbed by 16%.

- Boys 9-14 delivery (412,000) increased by 4%, while ratings (3.3) rose by 6%.

In addition to its delivery/ratings success, Cartoon Network also earned significant artistic recognition for its original series from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. At the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, animator Genndy Tartakovsky�s 2005 special series Star Wars: Clone Wars Vol. 2 (Chapters 21-25) was named Best Animated Program (programming one hour or more). The 2005 Emmy Awards for Individual Achievement presented six citations to Cartoon Network animators to complete the largest single haul the network�s history. Original series represented include Foster�s Home for Imaginary Friends, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars and The Powerpuff Girls.
