CBS was the Number One network in viewers and highest rated in adults 25-54 for the second consecutive week this season and CSI was the week's Number One program, topping "Grey's Anatomy," according to live plus same day Nielsen ratings for the week ending Oct.1, week two of the 2006-2007 television season.
Compared to the same week last season, CBS was up in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 and had five of the week's 10 most watched programs including all three editions of CSI, CRIMINAL MINDS and SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS.
In addition to placing first in viewers and adults 25-54, CBS was also just -0.1 rating point from first in adults 18-49.
For the week in viewers, CBS (12.79m) beat ABC (11.50m), NBC (10.36m) and FOX (6.46m). Season-to-date, CBS (12.90m) leads followed by ABC (11.89m), NBC (10.70m) and FOX (6.99m).
For the week in households, CBS (8.2/14) enjoyed a +9% advantage over ABC (7.5/12), +21% over NBC (6.8/11) and +100% over FOX (4.1/07). Season-to-date, CBS is first in households (8.3/14), outpacing ABC by +8% (7.7/13), NBC by +19% (7.0/11) and FOX by +89% (4.4/07).
For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (4.9/12, for the second consecutive week) and second in adults 18-49 (3.9/11, -0.1 behind ABC and up from third last week). Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +1% in viewers, +2% in adults 25-54 and +3% in adults 18-49. Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54, ABC is first in adults 18-49 with CBS and NBC tied for second.
? CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in viewers (23.77m), second in households (14.3/21), adults 25-54 (9.9/21) and adults 18-49 (8.0/19). Compared to last week, CSI was up +4% each in households (from 13.7/21), adults 18-49 (from 7.7/18) and adults 25-54 (from 9.5/21) and added +1.19m viewers (from 22.58m, +5%).
-- CSI moved ahead of "Grey's Anatomy" by +290,000 viewers (after trailing by -2.83m last week) and is now trailing the ABC drama by -0.7 rating point in households (from -2.1), -0.6 rating point in adults 25-54 (from -2.3) and -1.5 rating points adults 18-49 (from -3.3). CSI was the week's top program in viewers.
? SHARK won its time period in viewers (14.64m), and was second in households (9.4/16, -0.1 behind NBC), adults 25-54 (5.5/13) and adults 18-49 (4.2/11). Compared to last week's premiere, SHARK was up +2% in adults 18-49 (from 4.1/11) and even in adults 25-54.
? JERICHO was second in households (7.4/12), viewers (11.47m), adults 25-54 (4.8/13, -0.2 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (3.6/11). This is the best regularly scheduled delivery in the time period in adults 18-49 since March 12, 2003 ("Star Search") and best since January 22, 2003 in adults 25-54 ("Star Search"). Compared to the series premiere last week, JERICHO was up +7% in adults 25-54 (from 4.5/12), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.4/10) and retained 97% of the premiere's household performance and 98% of the viewer delivery.
? CRIMINAL MINDS won its time period in households (10.8/17), viewers (16.54m), adults 25-54 (6.4/15) and adults 18-49 (4.9/13). This is the best delivery for a first run episode of CRIMINAL MINDS in households, viewers and adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 to date
? CSI: NY was first in households (10.4/17), viewers (16.21m), adults 25-54 (6.4/16) and tied for first in adults 18-49 (5.2/14, with ABC). CSI: NY was tied as the night's Number One program in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.
? THE AMAZING RACE 10 posted a 7.3/11 with 11.75m viewers, 4.9/11 in adults 25-54 and 4.0/09 in adults 18-49. This is the best performance for THE AMAZING RACE in households and viewers since 5/10/05 (the finale of THE AMAZING RACE 7), in adults 25-54 since 2/28/06 (the premiere of THE AMAZING RACE 9) and in adults 18-49 since 3/14/06 (THE AMAZING RACE 9). Compared to last week's episode, THE AMAZING RACE 10 was up +14% in both households (from 6.4/10) and adults 18-49 (from 3.5/09), +11% in adults 25-54 (from 4.4/10) and added +1.18m viewers (from 10.57m, +11%),
? COLD CASE (9:35-10:35PM) delivered a 9.4/14 in households with 14.44m viewers, 5.2/11 in adults 25-54 and 3.9/09 in adults 18-49. Compared to the first hour of the CBS SUNDAY MOVIE last year, COLD CASE was up +38% in households, +53% in adults 25-54 and +50% in adults 18-49.
? WITHOUT A TRACE (10:35-11:35PM) posted a 9.7/18 with 14.51m viewers, 5.4/14 in adults 25-54 and 4.4/12 in adults 18-49. Compared to the same night last year (the second hour of the CBS SUNDAY MOVIE), WITHOUT A TRACE was up +43% in households, +59% in adults 25-54 and +69% in adults 18-49.
? SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS easily won its time period in (16.85m), adults 25-54 (7.3/18), adults 18-49 (5.9/16), tied for first in adults 18-34 (4.1/13, with ABC) and was second in households (9.6/15). Compared to last week and against the heavily promoted premiere of ABC's "Ugly Betty", SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS retained 98% of its household delivery (from 9.8/16), 96% of adults 25-54 (from 7.6/19), 91% of both adults 18-49 (from 6.5/18) and adults 18-34 (from 4.5/14) and 97% of viewers (from 17.43m).
? CSI: MIAMI was first in households (11.6/19), viewers (17.79m), adults 25-54 (7.2/17) and adults 18-49 (5.8/15). CSI: MIAMI beat NBC's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" by +59% in households (vs. 7.3/12), +44% in adults 25-54 (vs. 5.0/12), +38% in adults 18-49 (vs. 4.2/11) and by +6.96m viewers (vs. 10.83m, +64%). NUMB3RS was first in households (7.1/13), viewers (10.69m), both for the second consecutive week, first in adults 25-54 (4.1/11) moving up from second place last week and second in adults 18-49 (3.0/10, -0.1 behind NBC). NUMB3RS improved its competitive position against NBC's "Law & Order". This week, NUMBERS beat "L&O" by +0.3 in both households (compared to being tied last week) and adults 25-54 (from trailing by -0.1 last week), +650,000 viewers (from +280,000) and trailed by just -0.1 behind NBC in adults 18-49 (compared to -0.5 last week).
