ABC also won its fourth week in a row among Adults 18-34 (3.3/10) and across each of the women demographics: W18-34 (4.3/13), W18-49 (5.3/14) & W25-54 (6.1/15). Disney-owned ABC was again the highest-rated broadcaster during the week with Teens 12-17 (2.0/7) and Kids 2-11 (1.3/6). ABC was competitively balanced throughout the week, winning on 4 of 7 nights in Adults 18-49 and claiming the No. 1 TV program on each of those evenings (Tuesday - "Dancing with the Stars," Wednesday - "Lost," Thursday - "Grey's Anatomy" and Sunday - "Desperate Housewives").
* By ranking No. 1 in Adults 18-49 on each of the first four weeks of the season, ABC is off to its most competitive start to a TV Season in at least 15 years - preceding the start of the Nielsen electronic database in September of 1991. The only other occasion when ABC accomplished the same feat over the course of that period of time was at the start of the '93-94 TV Season, when it also led the opening 4 weeks. Furthermore, ABC is off to the best season start for any television network in 4 years - since beginning of the '02-03 TV Season, when NBC also led the first four weeks. ABC is also enjoying its longest winning streak during the course of a television season in over 6 years - since a streak during spring 2000, during the weeks of 2/21-4/17/00.
* Even without the advantage of "Monday Night Football" in its averages this season, ABC increased its overall Total Viewer count for the fourth week in a row (+7% - 11.5 million vs. 10.7 million) from the year-ago week (w/o 10/10/05). ABC matched its delivery in the same week last year among Adults 18-34, while posting increases across each of the women demographics (W18-34 +8%, W18-49 +10% & W25-54 +11%) and among Teens 12-17 (+5%) and Kids 2-11 (+8%).
* Excluding sports from the season averages to adjust for the loss of "MNF," ABC's primetime delivery has surged by 18% in Total Viewers (12.6 million vs. 10.7 million) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (4.5/12 vs. 4.0/11) over the first four weeks of last season.
