CBS extended its winning streak in viewers and adults 25-54 to five straight weeks while placing second in adults 18-49 (tie), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 22, week five of the 2006-2007 season.
Sophomore drama CRIMINAL MINDS continued to close the gap with "Lost" finishing in its closest competitive position to the ABC series in viewers (-103,000) and adults 18-49 (-2.1 ratings points). CRIMINAL MINDS topped "Lost" in viewers from 9:30-10:00 PM for the second consecutive week.
Also, NUMB3RS delivered season high ratings in viewers and key demographics, topping "Law & Order" in adults 18-49 by its widest margin this season and COLD CASE, opposite "Desperate Housewives" and game two of the World Series, posted season high ratings in adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.
For the week in viewers, CBS (12.57m) beat FOX (11.89m), ABC (11.21m) and FOX (8.88m). Season-to-date in viewers, CBS (13.04m) leads followed by ABC (11.68m), NBC (10.23m) and FOX (8.59m).
For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (4.8/12, for the fifth consecutive week) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.8/10, with FOX). Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 and second in adults 18-49 (just -0.1 behind ABC).
For the week in households, CBS (8.0/13) had a +3% advantage over FOX (7.8/13), +10% over ABC (7.3/12) and +40% over NBC (5.7/09). Season-to-date, CBS is first in households (8.4/14), outpacing ABC by +11% (7.6/12), NBC by +27% (6.6/11) and FOX by +50% (5.6/09).
? CSI: MIAMI was first in households (11.6/18), viewers (18.12m), adults 25-54 (7.1/17), adults 18-49 (5.8/15) and adults 18-34 (4.3/12). CSI: MIAMI was Monday's top rated program in households, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and was Number One in viewers.
? NCIS was second in households (9.9/15), viewers (15.92m), adults 25-54 (5.4/13) and adults 18-49 (3.9/11). NCIS posted its best viewer delivery of the season for the second time in three weeks and for the second week in a row was off just -0.1 in both adult 25-54 and adults 18-49 season highs.
? JERICHO was second in households (6.9/11), viewers (10.88m), adults 25-54 (4.2/11) and adults 18-49 (3.1/09).
? CRIMINAL MINDS was first at 9:00 PM in households (10.6/16), in a virtual tie for first in viewers (16.203m, -103,000 viewers behind "Lost") and a strong second in adults 25-54 (6.1/13) and adults 18-49 (4.5/11) for the second consecutive week. For the second week in a row, CRIMINAL MINDS topped "Lost" from 9:30-10:00PM in viewers (16.89m vs. 15.78m, +7% or +1.11m viewers). Last week, the CBS advantage was +730,000 viewers. CRIMINAL MINDS was up at 9:30PM by +9% (from 15.52m at 9PM) while "Lost" was down -6% (from 16.82m at 9PM).
-- CRIMINAL MINDS beat "Lost" by +0.7 rating points (compared to trailing by -4.2 on the same night last year) and was behind by -103,000 viewers (compared to -8.59m last year), -1.5 in adults 25-54 (compared to -5.6 last year) and -2.1 in adults 18-49 (compared to -5.4 last year). CRIMINAL MINDS finished in its closest competitive position ever against a first-run episode of "Lost" in viewers and adults 18-49 for the second week in a row.
? SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS won its time slot in viewers (15.02m), adults 25-54 (6.4/16), adults 18-49 (5.3/14) and tied for first in households (8.9/14, with ABC) and adults 18-34 (3.8/12, with NBC). SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS topped "Ugly Betty" for the fourth consecutive week in adults 18-34 (vs. 3.7/11, +3%), adults 18-49 (vs. 4.4/12, +20%), adults 25-54 (vs. 5.1/12, +25%), viewers (vs. 13.17m, +1.85m viewers or +14%).
? CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was second in households (12.7/19), viewers (20.49m), adults 25-54 (8.3/18) and adults 18-49 (6.9/16).
? SHARK posted a 9.1/15 with 13.71, viewers, 5.1/12 in adults 25-54 and matched a series high delivery in adults 18-49 (4.2/11).
? GHOST WHISPERER was first in adults 25-54 (4.0/12), adults 18-49 (3.1/11), second in households (6.7/12) and viewers (10.27m). GHOST WHISPERER has been first in adults 25-54 every week this season and first in three of the last four weeks in adults 18-49. This is GHOST WHISPERER's best household performance of the season and best viewer, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 delivery since the 9/22/06 premiere.
? NUMB3RS was first in households (7.8/14), viewers (11.95m), both for the fifth consecutive week, first in adults 25-54 (4.5/13) for the fourth consecutive week and first in adults 18-49 (3.5/11) for the second time in three weeks. NUMB3RS posted season-high deliveries in these key measures.
? COLD CASE (9.3/14, 14.81m) scored its best delivery in adults 18-49 (4.3/10) and adults 18-34 (2.9/07) of the season and best viewers and adults 25-54 (5.4/11) performance since the season premiere.
