During the first week of 2007 (w/o 1/1/07), ABC saw its primetime audience grow by 23% in Total Viewers (8.0 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 32% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/7 vs. 2.2/6) over the prior week, marking its best numbers in 4 weeks � since w/o 12/4/06.
Weekly Rankings: ABC claimed 5 of the week�s Top 20 TV programs among Adults 18-49: �Desperate Housewives� � No. 3, �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� � No. 7, �Brothers & Sisters� � No. 11, �Grey�s Anatomy SP� � No. 19 and �Grey�s Anatomy� � No. 20. ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� (No. 3) and �Home Edition� (No. 10) also placed among the week�s Top 10 most-watched TV shows. In addition, �Desperate Housewives� stood as the week�s No. 1 TV show with Women 18-34. ABC�s �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� stood as the week�s No. 1 unscripted series in Viewers and Adults 18-49, outdelivering competition including NBC�s premieres of �Grease� and �The Apprentice� along with multiple editions of �Deal or No Deal.�
Monday
With an overrun of the �Rose Bowl� during the first hour of prime, ABC delivered its second-strongest Monday performance of the season in both Total Viewers (10.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/9 � tied). The Net took second place in both measures to Fox�s prime coverage of the �Fiesta Bowl,� while winning the night among Women 18-34 (3.5/9), Teens 12-17 (1.8/6) and Kids 2-11 (1.5/6).
�Supernanny� (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
In the 9 o�clock hour, a repeat �Supernanny� took second place among Adults 18-34 (2.4/6) and led the hour among Women 18-34 (3.2/8).
�Supernanny� (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
Building on its lead-in in viewers and young adults, a second special repeat telecast of �Supernanny� also placed second among Adults 18-34 (2.6/7) and won the hour with Women 18-34 (3.6/10).
Tuesday
�America�s Funniest Home Videos� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
The Tuesday premiere of �America�s Funniest Home Videos,� a repeat telecast of the program, attracted 8.1 million viewers and a 2.7 rating, 7 share among Adults 18-49. The video-clip show delivered the show�s second-largest audience and highest Adults 18-49 rating of the season for an encore telecast. In fact, �Videos� matched it strongest young adult rating for a repeat telecast in over 2 years � since 12/26/04.
� �America�s Funniest Home Videos� won the hour among Teens 12-17 (2.0/7) and Kids 2-11 (2.0/7).
Wednesday
�According to Jim� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Opposite Fox�s �Sugar Bowl� (Notre Dame-LSU) college football championship series game, back-to-back episodes of �According to Jim� returned to ABC�s schedule, growing by 8% among Adults 18-49 from the first half-hour to the second half-hour (2.5/7 to 2.7/7) in its season premiere. From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC�s �Jim� topped NBC�s �Friday Night Lights� by 1.0 million viewers (7.3 million vs. 6.3 million) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (2.6/7 vs. 2.3/6).
� In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, �According to Jim� generated ABC�s best performance in the hour in 7 weeks � since 11/15/06, the night of the �Dancing with the Stars� season finale.
�The Knights of Prosperity� (9:00-9:31 p.m.)
In its debut telecast against the �Sugar Bowl,� ABC�s �The Knights of Prosperity� built on its �According to Jim� lead-in by 11% in Adults 18-49 (3.0/8 vs. 2.7/7) at 9:00 p.m. The new ABC comedy retained 100% of its Total Viewer lead-in (7.2 million). �Knights of Prosperity� took second place in its time period among Men 18-49 (2.7/7), trailing only Fox�s �Sugar Bowl� coverage.
� Compared to ABC�s average in the half-hour since the �fall finale� of �Lost� (on 11/8/06), �The Knights of Prosperity� improved the half-hour for the Net by 13% in Total Viewers (7.2 million vs. 6.4 million) and by 30% in Adults 18-49 (3.0/8 vs. 2.3/6).
� Among Adults 18-49, �Knights� ranks as the fourth-highest-rated half-hour new comedy premiere this season across the broadcast nets (including the early-September comedy debuts on Fox).
�In Case of Emergency� (9:31-10:00 p.m.)
�In Case of Emergency� retained a strong 90% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in, delivering ABC�s biggest audience (6.3 million) and top A18-49 (2.7/7) number in the half-hour in 7 weeks � since 11/15/06.
� Versus ABC�s average in the half-hour since the �fall finale� of �Lost� (on 11/8/06), �In Case of Emergency� improved the half-hour for the Net by 15% in Total Viewers (6.3 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (2.7/7 vs. 2.1/6).
Thursday
�Ugly Betty� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
ABC�s �Ugly Betty� finished a strong second place during the opening hour on Thursday evening among Total Viewers (11.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/10), while winning its time period with Women 18-34 (4.3/12). In fact �Betty� has led its hour among its core audience of Women 18-34 on all of the series� regular telecasts. Moreover, �Betty� dominated the hour among Women 18-49, topping second-place NBC by 18% (5.2/13 vs. 4.4/11).
� �Ugly Betty� jumped substantially on the half-hour, increasing by 1.7 million viewers (10.8 million to 12.5 million) and by 24% in Adults 18-49 (3.3/9 to 4.1/10) from start to finish.
�Grey�s Anatomy� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)
Opposite CBS� original �C.S.I.,� ABC's repeat �Grey's Anatomy� held a strong second in the 9 o�clock hour among Total Viewers (10.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.8/9). ABC�s repeat �Grey�s� beat out NBC�s original comedies in the hour by 3.7 million viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (�Scrubs�/�30 Rock� = 6.6 million & 3.3/8).
� Although it faced an original �C.S.I.� in the time period this week, �Grey�s� was up from the prior week�s repeat by 2.3 million viewers (10.3 vs. 8.0 million) and by 27% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/9 vs. 3.0/8).
�Grey�s Anatomy SP � 1/4� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
Despite the decided lead-in advantage coming out of an original �C.S.I.� episode, during the 10 o�clock hour ABC's repeat special airing of �Grey's Anatomy� defeated CBS� original �Shark� by 8% among Adults 18-49 (4.0/10 vs. 3.7/10).
Sunday
Competing against Fox�s high-rated NFL Wild Card Playoff overrun during the opening hour of the night, with its all-entertainment Sunday lineup ABC was the top non-sports network on the night in Total Viewers (13.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.8/11). Versus its nearest non-sports competition on the evening, ABC outpaced CBS by 4% in Total Viewers (12.5 million) and NBC by 23% in Adults 18-49 (3.9/9). The Network turned in its strongest Sunday in 6 weeks � since 11/26/06.
� For the 11th time in as many original telecasts this season, ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� stood as Sunday night�s No. 1 TV program in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
�Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
ABC�s �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� was the most-watched TV show during the 8 o�clock hour (13.4 million) and finished a solid second in Adults 18-49 to NFL-fueled Fox (5.1/11 vs. 5.5/13). Versus its unscripted competition in the time period, �Home Edition� beat the opening hour of NBC�s
series debut of �Grease� (11.6 million & 4.3/10) by 1.8 million viewers and by 19% in Adults 18-49.
� ABC�s �Home Edition� stood as the No. 1 unscripted program on Sunday night in Total Viewers (13.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (5.1/11), pacing well ahead of both NBC�s �Grease: You�re the One that I Want� (11.5 million & 4.3/10 from 8:01-9:30 p.m.) and �The Apprentice� (9.1 million & 4.1/10 from 9:30-11:00 p.m.).
� Among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, �Home Edition� posted its strongest performance in 6 weeks � since 11/26/06.
�Desperate Housewives� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)
The No. 1 TV program of the night, ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� dominated the 9 o�clock hour, beating its closest competition by 4.6 million viewers (18.7 million vs. 14.1 million � CBS) and by 59% in Adults 18-49 (7.3/16 vs. 4.6/10 � Fox).
�Brothers & Sisters� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
ABC�s �Brothers & Sisters� won the 10 o�clock hour in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic (4.5/11), defeating CBS� �Without a Trace� by 22% (3.7/9) and the final hour of NBC�s �The Apprentice� season premiere by 5% (4.3/11).
� �Brothers & Sisters� was up sharply from its most recent original telecast (on 12/10/06), growing by 1.5 million viewers (11.9 million vs. 10.4 million) and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (4.5/11 vs. 3.9/10).
