Cable Ratings Round-Up (Week of January 29-February 4): 'Dirt' Bounces Back, 'Silverman' Strong

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Comedy Central's "The Sarah Silverman Program" got off to a strong start last week as the cable newcomer posted 1.8 million viewers, the network's largest debut since 2004's "Drawn Together" (2.2 million). Among adults 18-49, the series drew 1.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched program in said demographic on cable for the night.

Over on FX, "Dirt" bounced back in its January 30 installment with 1.9 million viewers tuning in, up from last week's series low of 1.7 million. In addition, "Dirt" posted a 22% gain among adults 18-49 from the previous week.

USA nevertheless was the network to beat as the cable channel took four of the top six spots for the week - "WWE Raw" (5.6 million at 10:00/9:00c, #1), "WWE Raw" (5.3 million at 9:00/8:00c, #2), "Monk" (5.2 million, #3), and "Psych" (3.8 million, #6).

Squeezing between the two USA dramas were Lifetime's "Angels Fall" (4.9 million, #5), the first of the network's four Nora Roberts adaptations, and Bravo's season finale of "Top Chef" (3.9 million, #6). The latter series also drew a stellar 2.5 rating/7 share among adults 18-34, the network's second best ever numbers in the key demographic, behind only the season two closer to "Project Runway." Leading out of "Chef" was the debut of "Top Design" with 1.8 million viewers, Bravo's best series opener to date.

Also making the top 15: VH1's latest episode of "I Love New York" (3.6 million, #T9).
