LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Discovery Channel's documentary "Planet Earth" opened to stellar numbers on Sunday.
The first three installments of the 11-part series nabbed three of the top four spots on cable last week - 8:00 (5.7 million, #2), 9:00 (6.1 million, #1) and 10:00 (5.4 million, #4). Subsequent installments will air at 8:00/7:00c and 9:00/8:00c each week.
Meanwhile, USA saw all four primetime hours of its "House" marathon on Sunday land in the top 15 - 7:00 (3.0 million, #T14), 8:00 (3.6 million, #10), 9:00 (3.8 million, #8) and 10:00 (3.7 million, #9) - as did a repeat of "Monk" (Friday at 10:00, 3.0 million, #T14) and both editions of its Monday mainstay "WWE Raw" - 9:00 (4.5 million, #6) and 10:00 (5.5 million, #3).
Also making the cut last week - ABC Family's premiere of the direct-to-DVD movie "Bring It On: All or Nothing," a channel movie record of 4.8 million (#5); VH1's latest installment of "I Love New York" (4.2 million, #7); and a new "South Park" (3.1 million, #13) on Comedy Central.
Beyond the top 15, HBO's "Rome" closed its run with 2.4 million viewers on Sunday while Showtime's "The L Word" wrapped its fourth season to the tune of 485,000 viewers.
And finally over on Sci Fi, 1.5 million viewers watched "Battlestar Galactica" wrap its third season (1.21 household rating, 1,064,000 adults 18-49). Said numbers significantly built from its lead-in "The Dresden Files" (1.00 household rating, 673,000 adults 18-49) at 9:00/8:00c.
