NBC Ratings Results for the Week of April May 14-20 and the 2006-07 Television Season

NBC RATINGS RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL MAY 14-20 AND THE 2006-07 TELEVISION SEASON

BURBANK, Calif. � May 22, 2007 � NBC averaged a 2.4 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.0 million viewers overall for the week of May 14-20, the last full measured week of the 2006-07 broadcast season, according to "live plus same day" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Primetime averages for the week of May 14-20 in adults 18-49 were Fox (3.9/12), ABC (3.6/11), CBS (2.8/8), NBC (2.4/7), Univision (1.7/5), CW (1.3/4) and Telemundo (0.5/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were ABC (10.8 million), CBS (10.4 million), Fox (10.1 million), NBC (7.0 million), Univision (3.9 million), CW (3.1 million) and Telemundo (1.1 million).

Through 35 full weeks (and with three nights remaining to be measured), primetime averages for all programs for the 2006-07 season in adults 18-49 are Fox (4.0/11), CBS (3.7/10), ABC (3.5/9), NBC (3.1/8), Univision (1.6/4), CW (1.3/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In total viewers, the 2006-07 season averages for all programs are CBS (12.5 million), Fox (10.3 million), ABC (9.9 million), NBC (8.9 million), Univision (3.6 million), CW (3.2 million) and Telemundo (0.9 million). See below, following the NBC highlights for the week of May 14-20, for selected NBC nightly and program highlights for the 2006-07 season.

In regular program averages through 35 full weeks of the 2006-07 season (and with three nights remaining to be measured), NBC is running within a tenth of a point of last year's average in adult 18-49 rating (3.2 vs. 3.3). While Fox is flat versus last year in regular-program averages, ABC is down 8 percent (from a 3.9 at this point last year to a 3.6 this year) and CBS is down 10 percent (from a 3.9 to a 3.5).

NBC is the only major network to grow younger this season versus last. The median age of NBC's primetime audience this season is 48.2, which is 1.1 years younger than last season (49.3). NBC grew this season versus last by 11 percent among men 18-34 viewers, 6 percent among men 18-49 viewers and 4 percent among viewers aged 12-17.

May 2007 sweep averages in adults 18-49 through Sunday, May 20 (25 nights into the 28-night period) are: Fox (3.7/11), ABC (3.5/10), CBS (3.0/9), NBC (2.3/7), Univision (1.6/5), CW (1.3/4) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In total viewers, the 25-night May sweep averages are CBS (11.0 million), ABC (10.1 million), Fox (9.5 million), NBC (7.0 million), Univision (3.6 million), CW (3.1 million) and Telemundo (1.0 million).

NBC highlights for the week of May 14-20:

* On Monday, "Heroes" won its highly competitive hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographics, opposite such original competition as Fox's "24," CBS' "King of Queens" season finale and ABC's "Dancing With Stars" and "The Bachelor."

* "Heroes" was the #7 ranked show of the week (tied) in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49.

* On Tuesday, "Law & Order: SVU" won its time period convincingly in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, total viewers and all other key measures. "SVU" locked up its highest results in 18-49 and total viewers since March 27, up 13 percent in 18-49 and 17 percent in total viewers versus the prior week.

* On Thursday, the one-hour season finale of "The Office" was #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics. "The Office" scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating and largest total viewership in the time period in 12 weeks. In the valuable demographic of adults 18-34, "The Office" topped its nearest competitor, ABC's "Ugly Betty," by a 38 percent margin of victory.

* Paced by the 17th season finale of "Law & Order," NBC tied for #1 Friday night in adults 18-49, marking the 10th time this season NBC has finished #1 or tied for #1 on Friday night.

NBC Highlights for the 2006-07 Season:

* Heroes" was the #1 new series of the season in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key ratings categories and NBC's highest-rated freshman drama in adults 18-49 in 12 seasons. This marks the second season in a row that NBC has introduced the #1 new scripted series ("My Name is Earl" was the #1 new scripted series of the 2005-06 season).

* "The Office" is the most upscale series in primetime, and "The Office," "30 Rock," "Scrubs" and "My Name is Earl" are primetime television's four most upscale comedies (based on concentration of adults 18-49 in households with $100,000-plus incomes). Altogether, NBC had six of the top 10 series programs in primetime this season by that measure.

* Original telecasts of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" were undefeated this season in adults 18-49 against regular competition in the Tuesday 10 p.m. time period. On a full season basis, "SVU" won its time period by a 35 percent margin in adults 18-49 (regular programs).

* Paced by "Heroes" and "Deal or No Deal," NBC generated a 13 percent increase on Monday night this season versus last in adults 18-49 (excludes sports).

* "NBC Sunday Night Football" led NBC to a 92 percent surge in adults 18-49 on Sunday nights in the fourth quarter of 2006. Overall, on a full season basis, NBC was up 21 percent year-to-year in adults 18-49 on Sunday.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of May 14-20:

On Monday, May 14 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (2.7 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 30 percent in 18-49 (to a 3.0/8 from a 2.3/7) and by 21 percent in total viewers (to 9.7 million from 8.0 million).

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "Heroes" (5.3/13 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall) won its hotly competitive hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographics versus such original competition as Fox's "24," CBS' "King of Queens" series finale and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and "The Bachelor."

"Heroes" was up 96 percent in 18-49 versus its lead-in from the previous hour and up 33 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's average in this time period last season (5.3 vs. 4.0). "Heroes" grew by 4 percent in both 18-49 and total viewers versus the prior week.

A special Monday telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 2.8/8 in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET.

On Tuesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.5/4 in 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., an encore of the previous night's telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 2.2/5 in 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall. This was up by 47 percent in 18-49 rating versus the average of "Criminal Intent" encores this season facing "Idol" or "House" on Fox and the "Dancing With the Stars" results show on ABC (2.2 vs. 1.5).

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.3/12 in 18-49, 12.8 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 95 percent in 18-49 rating and by 84 percent in total viewers to lock up its highest 18-49 rating and largest overall viewership since March 27. "SVU" was up 13 percent in 18-49 rating and up 17 percent in overall viewership compared to the prior week.

"Law & Order: SVU" won its time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, total viewers and all other key measures. In adults 18-49, "SVU" topped its closest competitor by a 34 percent margin (a 4.3 for "SVU" vs. a 3.2 for CBS' "Academy of Country Music Awards" in that hour).

NBC steadily built audience throughout Tuesday night, more than tripling its adult 18-49 rating and growing by 156 percent in overall total viewers from the first to the final half-hour of primetime (to a 4.6/13 in 18-49 and 13.3 million viewers overall for the 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour from a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers from 8-8:30 p.m.).

On Wednesday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET, "Thank God You're Here" averaged a 1.9/6 in 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., the finale of "Crossing Jordan" averaged a 1.7/4 in 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, the third season finale of "Medium" (2.6/7 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) built by 53 percent in 18-49 and by 20 percent in total viewers versus its lead-in from the previous hour.

On Thursday, May 17 from 8-9 p.m. ET, the one-hour season finale of "The Office" (3.9/12 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, as well as among all key adult-male demos � men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. "The Office" finale scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating and largest overall viewership in this Thursday time period in 12 weeks (since February 22). In the valuable demographic of adults 18-34, "The Office" topped its nearest competitor in the hour, ABC's "Ugly Betty," by a 38 percent margin (a 4.4 for "The Office" vs. a 3.2 for "Betty").

Thursday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, the sixth season finale of "Scrubs" averaged a 2.8/7 in 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, the 13th season finale of "ER" (3.6/10 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall) dramatically enhanced its competitive position from half-hour to half-hour, surging from a third-place 3.2/8 among adults 18-49 from 10:01-10:30 p.m. to a first place 4.1/12 among adults 18-49 in the 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour. From half-hour to half-hour, "ER" swelled by 28 percent in 18-49 and by 27 percent (or 2.3 million persons) in overall total viewers.

On Friday, May 18 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) was tied for #2 in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright among adults 25-54.

At 10 p.m. ET, the 17th season finale of "Law & Order" (2.6/8 in 18-49, 9.2 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since February 2 and its biggest overall audience since February 9. "Law & Order" was up 13 percent in 18-49 and 11 percent in total viewers versus the prior week's telecast. The May 17 edition increased by 37 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in from the previous hour (2.6 vs. 1.9) to rank #2 from 10-11 p.m. in adults 18-49 and total viewers.

NBC was tied for #1 on Friday night in adults 18-49, marking the 10th time this season NBC has finished #1 or tied for #1 on Friday night.

On Saturday, May 19 at 8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 0.9/4 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 33 percent in 18-49 rating. At 10 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) increased by 25 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in from the previous hour.

On Sunday, May 20 from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall.

Sunday from 8-11 p.m. ET, NBC's broadcast premiere of the 2004 feature film "National Treasure" averaged a 2.2/6 in 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall. From its first to its final half-hour, "National Treasure" built by 123 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.9/8 from a 1.3/4) and by 56 percent in overall viewership (to 7.562 million from 4.852 million). For its final hour from 10-11 p.m., "National Treasure" ranked #2 in most key ratings categories (including adults 18-49 and total viewers) and #1 in all key adult-male demographics.
