SCI FI.COM CONJURES UP RECORD TRAFFIC FOR GHOST HUNTERS PAGES
New York, NY � November 1, 2007 � SCI FI Channel's 2nd annual Halloween special Ghost Hunters Live scored record numbers for the Channel to make it #1 cable entertainment channel for the night in the key demos. It was also the most watched cable program for Adults 25-54 and ranked second for Adults 18-49. This represents SCI FI's best Wednesday prime performance in the 18-49 demo since 2002 (Taken).
Overall Ghost Hunters Live's 9PM to 11PM primetime telecast delivered a 2.1 HH rating, 2.8 Million total viewers, 1.75 Million Adults 25-54, 1.8 Million Adults 18-49, and 850,000 Adults 18-34. In the 9PM hour SCI FI ranked #1 among all cable networks for both Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 beating The CW's Gossip Girl (repeat) head-to-head in the hour in both key demos. The special was very successful with young female viewers attracting the Channel's second-best night ever with Women 18-49.
Ghost Hunters Live originated from the notoriously haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. The 6-hour investigation was led by Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson and their TAPS team, and aired live from 9PM to 3AM ET. Josh Gates of SCI FI's original series Destination Truth, hosted the evening.
This year's event delivered high double-digit growth in all key demos vs. the Halloween 2006 special, which aired from 11PM-5AM ET, including a +107% jump in Adults 25-54.
SCIFI.com offered a multilayered digital experience for fans online including an exclusive, multi-camera online video feed and thermal imaging camera views, exclusive access to photos from the live event posted online every 30 minutes, live Q&A with the Taps team members, live, user-to-user chat, and the return of the "Panic Button" for Web watchers to alert the team of something they are seeing live on TV.
The Ghost Hunters section of SCIFI.com delivered 2.1 million page views, ranking as the #1 section of the site with 45% of all traffic. This is the highest daily tally for the section year-to-date and a full +299% above last year's live special (522K page views on 10/31/06).
There were 238,000 Ghost Hunters video streams during the evening representing 82% of all the streams yesterday on SCIFI.com.
The results of last night's marathon investigation will be revealed on next week's all new episode of Ghost Hunters at its regular time, Wednesday at 9PM ET/PT.
