ABC Leads Thursday in Adults 18-34 for the Eighth Week in a Row and Attracts its Largest Audience on the Night Since Season Premiere Thursday

"Ugly Betty" Takes Second to "Survivor" in Viewers and Young Adults and Leads its Slot by 23% Women 18-34, its Eighth Straight Week to Lead with Young Women

Thursday's No. 1 TV Show in Adults 18-49 for the Eighth Week Running, "Grey's Anatomy" Marks its Best Numbers in Key Adults and Men Since its Season Opener

In a Special Thursday Airing, "Women's Murder Club" Hits Series Highs in Key Adults

Thursday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC topped its 8th consecutive Thursday in Adults 18-34, beating out second-place NBC by 24% on the night (4.7/13 vs. 3.8/10). The Net earned second place on the evening to CBS in Total Viewers and nearly tied the Eye Net for first place among Adults 18-49 (5.0/12 vs. 5.1/13).

ABC generated its biggest audience (13.0 million) on the night in 7 weeks largest since season premiere Thursday on 9/27/07.

"Ugly Betty" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Holding second to CBS' "Survivor: China" from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's "Ugly Betty" topped its NBC comedy competition in the hour ("My Name is Earl"/"30 Rock") in Total Viewers (10.7 million vs. 7.2 million) and in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 3.4/9). For the 8th consecutive week, "Betty" ranked No. 1 in its time slot with Women 18-34, besting second-place "Survivor: China" by 23% (4.9/13 vs. 4.0/11).

"Ugly Betty" garnered its top Women 18-49 rating (5.0/13) in 5 weeks and matched its best-since-season-premiere rating among Adults 18-49 (3.5/9) since 10/11/07 and 9/27/07, respectively.

"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" dominated the 9 o'clock hour and stood as Thursday's No. 1 television program across each of the key adult demographics: Adults 18-34 (8.2/20), Adults 18-49 (8.1/18) and Adults 25-54 (8.4/18). In its time period, "Grey's" beat out CBS' "C.S.I." by 27% in Adults 18-49 (8.1/18 vs. 6.4/15). It's the 8th week running that "Grey's Anatomy" has been Thursday's No. 1 TV show in the key young adult sales demographic.

"Grey's Anatomy" equaled its highest ratings since its season premiere among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 ago, as well as hitting its top numbers across the men demos (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54) since its opener since 9/27/07.

"Women's Murder Club" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

In the final hour of the night against veteran dramas on CBS ("Without a Trace") and NBC ("ER"), a special Thursday airing of ABC freshman "Women's Murder Club" ranked No. 2 among Women 18-34 (4.0/11), pacing 18% ahead of CBS (3.4/9).

Receiving strong additional sampling outside of its regular Friday 9:00 p.m. time slot, "Women's Murder Club" marked series-high ratings across the key adult demographics: AD18-34 (2.8/8), AD18-49 (3.3/9) and AD25-54 (3.8/9).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 10% at this time last year up to 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
