"Supernanny" Season Debut Beats NBC's "Law & Order" by 23% in Adults 18-34

Second Telecast of "Supernanny" Ranks No. 1 at 10pm among Adults 18-49, Qualifying as the No. 1 TV Show on the Night Across All Key Women Demos

Wednesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's Wednesday lineup including the season premieres of "Wife Swap" and "Supernanny" took second on the night in Adults 18-49 (3.7/9), behind only Fox's coverage of the "Tostitos Fiesta Bowl." The Net led the evening among Women 18-34 (4.4/13) and Women 18-49 (5.0/13). ABC beat NBC's lineup, featuring the time period premiere of "Deal or No Deal" and the 2-hour season premiere of "Law & Order," in both Adults 18-49 (3.7/9 vs. 3.6/9) and Adults 18-34 (3.1/9 vs. 2.5/7).

� ABC was up over the year-ago Wednesday (1/3/07) by 2.6 million viewers (8.9 million vs. 6.3 million) and by 48% in Adults 18-49 (3.7/9 vs. 2.5/7), when the Net aired an all-original schedule featuring comedy premieres from 8-10pm.

"Wife Swap" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Wife Swap" premiered its fourth season with a time period-winning performance among Women 18-34 (3.9/12) and Women 18-49 (4.4/12). "Wife Swap" beat its unscripted competition, CBS' season premiere of "Power of 10," by 1.8 million viewers (8.5 million vs. 6.7 million) and by 94% in Adults 18-49 (3.3/9 vs. 1.7/4).

"Supernanny" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

The Season 4 debut of ABC's "Supernanny" beat the first hour of NBC's "Law & Order" by 23% in Adults 18-34 (3.2/9 vs. 2.6/7). Like its lead-in, "Supernanny" ranked No. 1 in its hour among Women 18-34 (4.5/12) and Women 18-49 (5.0/12).

"Supernanny" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Building on its lead-in in viewers and young adults, the night's second episode of "Supernanny" ranked No. 1 in the 10'clock hour among Adults 18-49 (4.0/10 � tied with Fox's "Tostitos Fiesta Bowl," based on Nielsen's preliminary primetime "fast affiliate" averages). "Supernanny" beat the second hour of NBC's "Law & Order" by 8% among Adults 18-49 (4.0/10 vs. 3.7/10) and by 42% among Adults 18-34 (3.4/10 vs. 2.4/7).

Editors Note: ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" will debut in its regular Wednesday 10 p.m. time period on 1/9/07.

� "Supernanny" led the final hour of prime and stood as Wednesday's No. 1 program across each of the key women demographics: Women 18-34 (4.9/14), Women 18-49 (5.6/14) and Women 25-54 (5.9/13).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has nearly doubled over 11% at the same point in 2006 up to over 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
