'Tin Man' Part 1 is #1 Ad-Supported Entertainment Telecast on Basic Cable in 2007
New York, NY � January 3, 2008 � SCI FI Channel's record breaking growth for 2007 placed the Channel at #6 for the year among Adults 25-54 (up 6% at 657,000), and its best year ever among Adults 18-34 (up 21% at 232,000). Additionally for fourth quarter, SCI FI scored its highest quarterly ranking to date capturing the #4 slot among Adults 25-54 (up 8% at 694,000). It was also SCI FI's best quarter ever among Adults 18-34 (273,000 with an increase of 22%), and among both Men 18�34 (up 15% at 149,000) and Women 18-34 (up 33% at 124,000), demonstrating the mass appeal of the sci-fi fantasy genre, and the power of SCI FI as a general entertainment network.
Additionally, the December 2007 telecast of Tin Man Part 1 was the #1 ad-supported entertainment telecast for Adults 25-54 on basic cable in all of 2007, and the most watched program in the history of the Channel. One out of every four Tin Man viewers were new to the Channel, and among women, one out of three were new.
2007 Highlights
In 2007, SCI FI averaged a 1.0 Household rating, with a best year ever among Adults 18-34, with a 21% jump (232,000), Adults 18�49 were up 8% (589,000), Adults 25-54 grew 6% (657,000) and Total Viewers were up 6% (1,197,000).
SCI FI was the #6 basic cable entertainment network among Adults 25-54, moving up from its #7 finish in 2006.
SCI FI had impressive double digit growth among younger and female audiences, increasing 11% vs last year among Women 25-54, 14% among Women 18-49 and 35% among Women 18-34.
SCI FI also ranked in the top ten networks in 2007 for Men 25-54(#5), Men 18-49 (#8), and Men 18-34(#10).
