"Ugly Betty" was up from its most recent original telecast (12/6/07) by 5% in Total Viewers (9.9 million vs. 9.4 million) and by 7% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/8 vs. 2.9/8), representing the series' best results since November 15, 2007.

In its time period, "Grey's" topped CBS' "C.S.I." by 40% in Adults 18-49 (7.0/17 vs. 5.0/12), its second-biggest margin of victory this season over an original installment of "C.S.I." Also in the 9:00 p.m. hour, NBC's "The Apprentice" fell back to a distant third place and dropped precipitously from its week-ago season premiere, losing -3.0 million viewers and -22% of its Adult 18-49 audience week to week. "Big Shots" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
In the final hour of the night against veteran dramas on CBS ("Without a Trace") and NBC ("ER"), ABC's freshman "Big Shots" ranked No. 1 among Women 18-34 (3.5/10).
"Big Shots" jumped from its most recent original telecast (11/29/07) by 1.5 million viewers (6.8 million vs. 5.3 million) and by 24% in Adults 18-49 (2.6/7 vs. 2.1/6).
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has nearly doubled from just over 11% at the same point in 2006, approaching 22% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
