A&E POSTS DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH ACROSS ALL KEY DEMOGRAPHICS FOR JULY
NETWORK FINISHES AMONG THE TOP TEN AD-SUPPORTED NETWORKS FOR THE 24th CONSECUTIVE MONTH AMONG ADULTS 25-54
NEW YORK July 29, 2008 A&E Network has once again landed among the top ten ad-supported cable networks for the month of July, ranking number five in the adults 25-54 demographic and six among adults 18-49. This month marks two straight years in which A&E has finished among the top ten in adults 25-54. The strength of the networks original programming also led to the most-watched July in network history among the key adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.
A&E posted double digit increases in all key demos during the month of July. Compared to July 2007, July 2008 garnered increases of 12% in adults 18-34 impressions (316,000), 15% in adults 25-54 impressions (711,000) and 17% in adults 18-49 (703,000). July 2008 also enjoyed a 2 year drop in median age to just 44, from 46 in July 2007.
The record-breaking July was due in part to the successful launch of A&E's first scripted series in more than 6 years, "The Cleaner" starring Benjamin Bratt, which doubled A&E's 2008 primetime audience. Additionally, July saw strong performances from new episodes of the real-life series "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and the 2008 Emmy-nominee for Outstanding Reality Program, "Intervention."
