NBC WINS SUNDAY, AS NFL PRE-SEASON FOOTBALL JUMPS 37 PERCENT ABOVE THE COMPARABLE YEAR-AGO TELECAST IN 18-49

BURBANK, Calif. � August 5, 2008 � Paced by "America's Got Talent" which was the #1 show of the week in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, NBC ranked #2 in adults 18-49 for the week of July 28-August 3, averaging a 1.7 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC finished just one-tenth of an 18-49 rating point out of first place for the week in adults 18-49, and won the week in adults 25-54. In total viewers, NBC was #2 this week. NBC has now finished #2 or tied for #2 in adults 18-49 for four weeks in a row and seven of the last eight.

"America's Got Talent" was the #1 show of the week in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures. In fact, "Talent" this week ranked among the top six programs in every meaningful demographic measure, male and female � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 � as well as among teens 12-17 and kids 2-11

With an average 13.8 million viewers, "Talent" attracted its biggest audience of the current cycle and the largest audience for any non-sports telecast on any network since the May 22 season finale of "Grey's Anatomy." In its seven weeks on the air so far this summer, "America's Got Talent" has now delivered the seven most-watched primetime telecasts in total viewers on any network since the May 29 season finale of "Lost" (excluding sports telecasts).

Primetime averages for the week of July 28-August 3 in adults 18-49 were Fox (1.8/6), NBC (1.7/6), CBS and ABC (1.5/5), Univision (1.4/5), CW (0.5/2) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (6.3 million), NBC (5.7 million), Fox (5.1 million), ABC (4.4 million), Univision (3.3 million), CW (1.5 million) and Telemundo (0.9 million).

Through 45 weeks of the 2007-08 season, Fox leads in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, while the race for #2 remains close, with only 0.2 of a rating point separating ABC, CBS and NBC. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through August 3, 2008 are Fox (3.8/11), ABC (2.8/8), CBS (2.7/7), NBC (2.6/7), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.0/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1).

NBC is the only major network that has not seen its audience get significantly older this season versus last and it is now the "second-youngest" of the major broadcast networks. Through the first 45 weeks of the 2007-08 season, NBC is running within 0.4 years of its median age from the prior season (48.8 years this season vs. 48.4 years last season). In this same comparison, ABC's median age has increased by 1.8 years (to 48.9 from 47.1 years old at this point last season), CBS's median age has increased by 0.9 years (to 53.3 from 52.4) and Fox's median age has increased by 1.4 years (to 43.9 from 42.5).

NBC highlights for the week of July 28-August 3:

* On Monday, "American Gladiators" attracted its largest total viewership in seven weeks. Versus the prior week, "Gladiators" was up 4 percent in overall viewership, 13 percent in adults 18-34 and 89 percent in teens 12-17. "American Gladiators" tied for #1 in its time period in adults 18-49 and won the hour outright among men 18-49, adults, men and women 18-34, teens and kids.

* Also on Monday, both "Nashville Star" and "Dateline NBC" gained 13 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week. In total viewers, "Star" and "Dateline" grew 10 percent and 15 percent respectively week-to-week.

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" delivered its highest total viewership of the summer and the biggest total-viewer result for any non-sports telecast on any network since the "Grey's Anatomy" season finale on May 22.

* "America's Got Talent" dominated its Tuesday time period in every key ratings measure � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54, teens 12-17, kids 2-11 and total viewers. In adults 18-49, "Talent" topped first-run slot rivals "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" by 61 percent and "Big Brother" by 64 percent. In total viewers, "Talent" topped the ABC-CBS shows combined by more than 2.1 million viewers.

* On Wednesday, "The Baby Borrowers" gained 5 percent in18-49 rating and 14 percent in total viewers versus the prior week to rank #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and most other key measures.

* On Thursday, "Last Comic Standing" grew 12 percent in 18-49 and 18 percent in total viewers versus the prior week, while "Fear Itself" increased 18 percent in the demo and 21 percent in total viewers week-to-week.

* Thursday's two-hour "Last Comic," which attracted the show's biggest overall viewership in five weeks, increased 29 percent in 18-49 rating and 21 percent in total viewers from its first to its second hour.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" was the top-rated show of the night on any broadcast network in adults 18-49. "Dateline" won its two-hour time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

* NBC won Sunday night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, paced by NBC Sports' coverage of the Washington Redskins-Indianapolis Colts pre-season game, which was up 37 percent in 18-49 rating and 24 percent in total viewers versus the comparable year-ago telecast.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, July 28 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "American Gladiators" (1.9 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time period in adults 18-49 (tied), men 18-49, adults, men and women 18-34, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11. "Gladiators" grew 12 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (1.9 vs. 1.7).

In total viewers, "American Gladiators" attracted its biggest audience in seven weeks (since June 9, live plus same day). Versus the prior week, "Gladiators" increased 4 percent in total viewers (to 5.4 million from 5.2 million), 13 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.7 from a 1.5) and 89 percent in teens 12-17(to 1.7 from 0.9), scoring its highest rating in that demo since its season premiere 11 weeks ago (May 12).

"American Gladiators" outscored its first-run time-period competitor "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" by 90 percent in adult 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.0), by 113 percent in adults 18-34 (1.7 vs. 0.8) and by 325 percent in teens 12-17 (1.7 vs. 0.4) in head-to-head competition from 8-9 p.m. In total viewers, the "Gladiators" advantage over "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" was 55 percent or 1.9 million persons (5.4 million vs. 3.5 million).

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "Nashville Star" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) increased by 13 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 1.5) and by 10 percent in total viewers (to 6.4 million from 5.8 million) from its first half-hour to its second. In head-to-head competition, "Nashville Star" topped its first-run slot competitor "Wanna Bet" in all key measures, including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Star" beat "Bet" by 33 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.2) and by 79 percent or 2.7 million persons in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 3.4 million).

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall), featuring the 10 Most Dramatic Rescues, increased 13 percent in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 1.6) and 15 percent in total viewers (5.9 million vs. 5.1 million) versus the prior week's telecast. "Dateline" ranked #2 in its time period in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 in men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, tied with CBS's "CSI Miami" encore in the latter two demos.

On Tuesday, July 29 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Celebrity Family Feud" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall) increased 11 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (2.0 vs. 1.8). "Feud" ranked #2 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key measures.

Tuesday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (3.7/10 in 18-49, 13.8 million viewers overall) delivered its highest total viewership of the summer to date and the biggest total-viewer result for any non-sports telecast on any network since the "Grey's Anatomy" season finale on May 22. In adults 18-49, "Talent" scored the highest 18-49 rating of its current cycle for a one-hour telecast, and matched the 3.7 program rating of its two-hour season premiere on June 17.

"America's Got Talent" dominated the 9-10 p.m. hour in every key ratings measure � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54, teens 12-17, kids 2-11 and total viewers.

In adults 18-49, "Talent" topped ABC's first-run "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" by 61 percent (3.7 vs. 2.3) and beat CBS's first-run "Big Brother" by 64 percent (3.7 vs. 2.2). In total viewers, "America's Got Talent" beat the first-run ABC-CBS shows combined by more than 2.1 million viewers (13.8 million for "Talent" vs. 11.7 million for "Japanese Game Show" and "Big Brother" combined).

From its first half-hour to its second, "Talent" increased by 12 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.8/10 from a 3.4/9) and by 11 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (to 13.8 million from 12.5 million), while both "Big Brother" and "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" declined half-hour to half-hour in both 18-49 and total viewers.

This telecast of "Talent" marks NBC's best performance in 18-49 rating in the Tuesday 9-10 p.m. time period since April 15 (the second half of the two-hour "Biggest Loser" season finale). In total viewers, this was NBC's biggest viewership in the slot in nearly a year (since August 21, 2007; the second hour of the two-hour "America's Got Talent" finale).

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in its time slot in adults 18-49 and #1 in women 18-34 (tied). Versus last week's encore telecast in this slot, "SVU" was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.0 from a 1.8) and 9 percent in total viewers (to 7.2 million from 6.6 million).

NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers.

On Wednesday, July 30 from 8-9 p.m., an encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" averaged a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall, ranking #2 in total viewers. Versus the prior week's telecast of a "Baby Borrowers" rebroadcast in this time period, the "Talent" encore was up 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.1) and 62 percent or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (to 5.2 million from 3.2 million).

Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Baby Borrowers" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in its time period in adults 18-49 and most key measures. Versus the prior week, "Baby Borrowers" gained 5 percent in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 2.0) and 14 percent in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.7 million). "Baby Borrowers" built by 50 percent in 18-49 rating on its lead-in from the previous hour.

Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" averaged a 1.2/3 in 18-49 and 4.3 million viewers overall.

On Thursday, July 31 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "Last Comic Standing" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) grew by 12 percent in 18-49 rating and by 18 percent in total viewers versus the prior week (a 1.7/6 and 4.2 million viewers on July 24). In total viewers, "Last Comic" attracted its biggest audience in five weeks (since June 24).

From its first hour to its second, "Last Comic" increased by 29 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2 from a 1.7) and by 21 percent in total viewers (to 5.5 million from 4.5 million). "Last Comic Standing" ranked #2 in adults 18-49 in both the 8 and 9 p.m. hours.

From 10-11 p.m., "Fear Itself" averaged a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall. "Fear" increased by 18 percent in 18-49 rating and 21 percent in total viewers versus the prior week's telecast (a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall on July 24). This marks the second consecutive week of growth for "Fear Itself," which this week was up 30 percent in 18-49 rating and 32 percent in total viewers versus its telecast two weeks earlier (a 1.0/3 and 2.9 million viewers on July 17).

On Friday, August 1 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Most Outrageous Moments" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall. From 8:30-9 p.m., another encore edition of "Most Outrageous Moments" delivered a 0.9/4 in 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time slot in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures and was the top-rated show of the night on any network in 18-49.

NBC ranked #1 Friday in adults 18-49, tied with CBS.

On Saturday, August 2 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 1.5 million viewers overall and, from 8:30-9 p.m., a second rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 1.5 million viewers overall. From 9-10 p.m., WWE's "Saturday Night Main Event" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall.

Saturday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time period in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

On Sunday August 3, from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall.

Sunday from 8-11:05 p.m. ET, NBC Sports' coverage of the Washington Redskins-Indianapolis Colts NFL pre-season game averaged a 2.6/8 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall and a 4.7/8 in households. This was up 37 percent in 18-49 rating and 24 percent in total viewers versus NBC's first pre-season NFL telecast of one year ago (Seattle vs. San Diego, 1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall on August 12, 2007).

NBC won Sunday night in adults 18-49 with the highest Sunday average for any network in seven weeks (since June 15). NBC also ranked #1 on Sunday night in adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.
