The ninth season premiere of CSI, in which the forensic team tracks down Warwick's killer, returned with 23 million viewers and its first ever win in adults 18-49 opposite an original "Grey's Anatomy," according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Oct. 9.
CSI (P) won its time period in households (13.7/21), viewers (22.99m), adults 25-54 (8.8/19) and adults 18-49 (7.0/17). This is the first time CSI topped a first run episode of "Grey's Anatomy" in adults 18-49 (vs. 5.5/13, +27%) and the largest margin of victory to date in households (vs. 9.7/15, +41%), viewers (vs. 14.54m, +58%) and adults 25-54 (from 6.0/13, +47%). CSI premiered with the largest audience of any prime program this season.
This is CSI's best delivery in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 since Sept. 27, 2007 (last year's season premiere) and best households performance since Nov. 8, 2007 (the CSI/WITHOUT A TRACE cross-over).
SURVIVOR: GABON was first in households (7.8/13), viewers (13.31m), adults 25-54 (5.4/14) and adults 18-49 (4.3/12). Compared to last week's episode, SURVIVOR was up +1% in households (from 7.7/12) and added +230,000 viewers (from 13.08m, +2%).
The premiere of THE ELEVENTH HOUR was second in its time period in households (7.3/12) second in viewers (11.59m, -0.01m behind ABC) and averaged a 4.2/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.3/09 in adults 18-49.
For the night, CBS was first in households (9.6/15), viewers (15.96m), adults 25-54 (6.1/15) and adults 18-49 (4.9/13). This is CBS's best Thursday delivery in adults 25-54 since April 3, 2008 and best adults 18-49 Thursday performance since December 13, 2007. This is CBS's first Thursday sweep (wins in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49) since April 3, 2008.
